Hi, I'm Pizza. I make games and music and art.
Hello, it's me, Pizza.
I did a bunch of music in pico-8, like the Lemmtris soundtrack and wrote an article about making music for the pico-8 zine. I threw all of the music I did with pico-8 into an album and put it up on Bandcamp.
Well, here it is if you wanna check it out: PIZZAMAKESMUSIC – PICO-8DITION
So long

A PICO-8 conversion of my first game.
Controls:
Up | Left | Down | Right | X / M | Y / N |
Jump | Stop | Slide | Move Right | Restart | Debug |
It's unfinished, with level 2 just going on forever. The title text animation is blatantly stolen from the Hello World demo cart and fiddled with until it looked different enough to not just be a carbon copy.
This game is different from my usual projects in that I try to teach myself to take time and not rush things, not expect anything from the things I do and not try to make the game sound like any more than it is and post it all over the place. Basically, I want to become a game dev Buddhist, is what I'm saying.
If you wanna download the cart to look at the code yourself, feel free to. I tried to keep all the code as succinct as possible and commented it in an understandable way.
There's a bug where sometimes you can't jump anymore and have to reboot.
I'll keep working on this.

M / X to confirm/dance
N / Y to restart from the final screen

M or X to confirm
Arrow UP / DOWN to select
Couldn't come up with a worse name.
The idea is to have a typical RPG final boss battle without anything that'd normally happen prior to that. Ironically, the placeholder for said final boss is a tiny blob. This is obviously very early, you can beat the game as it is, but what the game is right now is nothing but a demonstration of the mechanics. So, a tech demo, uh-oh.

Hey, if you want music for your PICO-8 game, just hit me up. I'll make you some. Free of charge, free of obligation. I'd do it for the bleeps and bloops.
To elaborate: I've been shocked to see lots of games for PICO-8 that are otherwise freakin amazing, especially the idea/coding/gameplay and art part, just flat-out not having any music, which is just so sad. So please, if you have a great game and you don't have anyone to make some music for it yet, and don't plan on making music for it yourself, drop me a message. I'll gladly track some tunes together. I'm no Tim Follin yet, but I've been at it for a while now, and it started to come kinda easy.
Here's an example: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=2102
If I'd make music for a game it'd probably be less prominent though, just in case that'd be a concern of you. This track is just so powerful cause it was meant to stand on it's own as a cartridge. Well, except for some violently flashing text and pizza.

Yo, got mesmerized by PICO-8 yesterday. Got into the tracker a bit, made a music cartridge.
If this ain't up to par I'll gladly remove and improve, as I don't wanna crap up this still small library of carts.
On that note: Tell me what you think!
I love this project and I'll gladly slide into the community like a cheesy slice of pizza.
