Hello all! I'm brand new to Pico-8 and have been having a blast. For my first game, I've made a demake of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. I gave myself a time limit of 1 week (which became 2), to force myself to finish the game, and it's the very first game I've actually completed using any software.
The game has two modes: Score Attack and Time Attack. The timed mode gives you 3 min to score as much as possible and the score mode gives you three lives.
Music is by me!
Hope you all enjoy the GLORY of PICOMETRY WARS: RETRO DEVOLVED!
Version 1: Now autofiring and strafing!
Projectiles now autofire, so you don't have to hold down X! I removed the firing sfx as well since it became somewhat annoying when it was out of player control, and it ate up a bunch of sound channel space. The X button now strafes instead! Thanks to BlinkyMcGoo for suggesting the change!
Added pause between player death and high score screen. Thank you JamesWoodwright!
Version 2: Bugfix!
Fixed bug to clean up timers to prevent multiple timers spawning enemies when playing multiple games.
Version 3: High Scores!
Added option to mode select screen to view high scores.
Version 4: Laser Sounds and Move to Shoot! (And annoying greens!)
Added back in the blaster sounds, but made the change that when you are still, you don't fire lasers. This was done for the following reasons:
- The blaster is more fun with sounds However...
- The blaster sound is not fun with no player control. Just having constant blaster sound at all times while playing if you're not in control of it is annoying.
- It encourages movement around the screen, which most likely you're doing the whole time anyway. Since there's no twin stick, there's no way to aim without moving the ship.
I also improved the green square's AI. You may have noticed with firing all the time that if you stood still, the green squares literally couldn't get close enough to you to be a threat since they were all dodging. Well not anymore! They'll only dodge if the lasers would come closer to them, making them much more like in the original game.
Version 5: Cartridge image update and bugfix
Added a more official looking cart image with the title and fixed a bug where stars would not appear in timed mode sometimes.

ABOUT
My own remake of Arkanoid, powered by Pico-8. Made from myself through Lazy Devs Academy's Pico-8 Hero tutorial via YouTube.
HOW TO PLAY
Bounce n' Blast your way through 12 unique levels, armed only with a flaming ball that hungers for total brick destruction! Equip yourself with 8 different powerups from special bricks, but be careful which one to equip, one may slow you down.
Your mission: conquer all 12 levels, reach crazy combos, and obtain the highest score! But keep your ball from falling into the abyss. Lose all your lives, ITS GAME OVER!
Once you have lost, you have the option to continue forward without your score or restart again to win back your score. For the best results, reach to the very end without losing all your lives.

Dungeon Clicker is my first PICO-8 game: A single-screen dungeon builder/base defence clicker.
Made over a few months following a game jam, and pleased with how it turned out.
The first couple of minutes are slow, but a full run only takes ~35 minutes.
I hope you like it!

Unlock, build and upgrade spawners and structures, balancing economy and defence!

This is a simple demake of a board game called Overboss. I do not claim any copyright over the design or ideas just did a simple game with very similar rule set.
The game have simple AI that is either completely random (Easy) follows some basic logic (Hard) but there shouldn't be too much trouble in beating it.
The game implement 8 out of standard 10 terrain types, has functionality for bands, portals and crystals. This allows you to play overboss in simplified way (there is no advanced play modes like boss cards or command cards or bigger board)

Hello everyone! I thought I'd officially announce and show off my new game!
Death Angel (or Shi no Tenshi) is a fast-paced shmup inspired by Cho-Ren-Sha.
I'm working on an initial prologue version that will be a complete title I will release for around 5 USD.
I currently have a playable prototype up here: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=157080
I really love the idea of bringing players together for more community interaction in a shmup!
With the magic of subscore() I'm hoping to integrate some asynchronous multiplayer functionality involving challenges you can send to players to compete for the best score. Perhaps a ranking system and team competitions would be awesome! Replays should also be very possible. Not to mention online leaderboards of course.
It's still a WIP but I will be launching some prototypes soon for testing.
If you're interested in becoming part of the community early on let me know!

This is the new version of Poprocks, a colourful asteroids-alike with a scrolling play area and many different enemies. It has a subtle lighting engine and lots of particles.
It uses scoresub, so you can compete against one another for the best scores. Navigate right twice from the title screen to see global highscores.
How to play
The aim of the game is to kill all enemies, allowing you to progress to the next level.
You can see the score multiplier, your score, and the number of lives at the top of the screen:
At the bottom, you can see the level number and the number of shields you have left

I've been working on a game where you sort a library inspired by this one game I've been playing. Books are sorted by genre and volume number. There are ~1500 books piled up on the floor that need to be sorted! Good luck! (note: nothing happens right now if you sort them all)
I'll admit, it's been difficult to fit so much text on the screen, so I hope it doesn't look too cluttered. Book titles are a work in progress, only some have real titles (see if you can guess the setting I'm planning on!).
Controls
Cursor can be moved with d-pad or mouse. You can hold up to 10 books at once. Click the arrows on the left and right to move rooms.

I'm creating a match-3 game.
It can also be played with another set of rules.

I just wanted to share this homage I made for one of my favorite artists, Malika Favre.
This is my pico8 version of Steps. One of my favorites pieces from her Hide & Seek collection.
Check out the original by clicking here.
Climb the steps by alternately pressing X and O.
You can speed up or pause movement using the up and down keys.
If you happen to find this interesting you can check the rest of her amazing work at her site: https://www.malikafavre.com/
