Uploading as cart, but there's no code, the bug is in the SFX:

If this worked correctly, the low-pass filters should silence all sound after the note is released, because that's what they do at cutoff 255 … but instead the sound continues playing. I don't even have an hypothesis why this happens – if you delete any one oscillator, it fixes the bug, but if you mute an oscillator, it doesn't. Likewise, not fixed if you mute any three oscillators, or the … input mixer? the thing at the top. Muting all four oscillators enforces silence, so no apparent bug.

Goblin Detector 🧌

A simple fantasy neural network which trains and runs fully within Picotron!

Specs 💻

  • Simple feed-forward MLP with ReLU and softmax output
  • 16x16 px images with RGB (16x16x3): 768 -> 128 -> 4
  • Classes are Goblin, Wizard, Knight and Skeleton
  • Uses the legendary MWIZD dataset (... found in 0.gfx pages 0, 1, 2, 3)
  • 256 sprites for training. Mirrored LR for a total of 512 per epoch.
  • Made around the use of first 0-15 (PICO8) colors.

Training 🧠

  • 10 epochs is good enough. 20 is for patient people.
  • Rendering the training process slows it down a bit but looks cool.

As the wizard queen you must defend your castle using increasingly powerful spells and fortifications.

You lose if you die or if your castle crumbles.

Casting spells may be a bit tricky, but when you get the hang of it and advance in the game the right spell is always available.

Can you make it through all 25 waves and defeat the final boss!? Can you beat your high score!?

Photosensitivity Warning

This game uses some strobing light effects. If this would prevent you from playing and you are interested, I’d appreciate that feedback.

Tips

  • Read the spell directions carefully, the controls are a bit non-traditional
  • You can't move and cast at the same time
  • Slower monsters are more powerful against your castle
  • Late game: portals don't work when monsters are near the exit portal

Hey,
I've got a game jam coming up in a couple of days where I'm hoping to explore some rhythm game-like mechanics, so I was wondering if anyone has any beginner-friendly advice for this type of thing. I'm hoping to achieve something pretty simple, just testing if the player has hit buttons in the correct order within a time limit. I really like how the Coffee Maker Pico-8 game handles this, but I'm still at a point where other people's completed code feels impossible to parse.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who offers advice!

Hey there,

has anyone seen this?
https://github.com/freewili/wili8jam

To be honest, this kinda looks too good to be true...
Also, why develop this for an out-of-stock/kinda obscure device like the Fruit Jam?
Its just so much work!

Anyways... if anyone happens to be the proud owner of an Adafruit Fruit Jam... it
would be really great if that person could try and get this running ;-)

Cheers,
Andy

EDIT: Seems like the FruitJam is back in stock again, so it might not be so "out-of-stock/kinda obscure" after all ;-)

There is a common problem in the BBS formatter for BBcode, which prevents use of certain characters in tags, like the spacebar. You can use @{} to tag people as such, like me. I did it: @Nour Ramy

This is a well-known issue.
The reason this is unpatchable is that characters like the spacebar are terminators of these tag sequences.

About this game

This is a remake of SONSON, Capcom.
Walk to reach the rightmost goal to help Kei. You can move the character, shoot bullets, and change 4 characters.

Top of the screen shows score, high-score, and energy meter as 'HP', hit point if you select HARD when starting the game. If you select EASY, "EASY" is displayed instead and player doesn't get damaged.

Heart marks displayed at the next line are lives. When you clash enemies, the HP meter decreases. When the HP meter becomes empty, one heart mark is lost. When all of the heart marks are lost and the HP meter becomes empty, the game is over.

Welcome to Turnip Head's Balancing Act, a game of precision, panic, and inevitable gravity. Your singular goal is to keep our favorite stickman perfectly upright for as long as humanly possible while the momentum desperately tries to pull him into the dirt.

It starts off forgiving. It does not stay that way.

Controls

(Left/Right): Lean desperately to keep your center of gravity.

(X): Start / Try again (you will be pressing this a lot).

Features

Merciless Momentum: Custom gravity math that actively wants you to fail.

Persistent Shame: Your all-time high score is permanently burned into the cartdata memory so you can never forget your peak performance.

Silky Smooth Suffering: Heavily optimized to ensure every inevitable faceplant renders beautifully.

A Dark Secret: There is a totally undocumented button combination hidden on the title screen to wipe your save data clean. Good luck finding it.

Let me know your high scores below so I know exactly how bad you all are at this.

If you have Picotron, you can also play the Picotron port of the game which has an online leaderboard (available only on Picotron Splore at the moment).

How to Play

  • Push Left and Right Buttons to move left or right.
  • Push the Cross Button or the Down Button to pick up a block. You can hold up to five blocks at once.
  • Push the Circle Button or the Up Button to place a block.
  • Place six blocks of the same colour in a row to clear them.

Scoring

Initially, clearing one row of blocks awards 100 points. Clearing a row while there are blocks below that row permanently adds 10 points to the amount of points earned per clear.

Clearing two rows back to back doubles the amount of points earned on the second clear. This multiplier stacks for further consecutive clears, up to sixteen times for the fifth clear in a row.

Remarks

We were heavily inspired by RoboStock by klunkoplunko.

Explore the caves and shoot The Wumpus with your Crooked Arrow.

Notes:

This plays like the 1981 TI-99/4 game written by Kevin Kenney. The original BASIC text game was created Gregory Yob in 1973.

I made this version as an excuse to implement the maze drawing algorithm, which I've always found intriguing. After that I just wanted to pile on cute things to amuse myself.

Gem Factory

Picotron got scoresub with the 0.3 update, so naturally it needed a head-empty gem-themed matching puzzle game with a hidden layer of galaxy brain strats.

Instructions

Click and drag to slide a row or column of gems. You can release the mouse at the original position to cancel the move.

Match three or more gems in a cluster to clear them and get points. The gems don't have to be in a line, but they do need to be 4-way neighbors.

After every move, new gem crates are dumped in. These crates cannot be matched, but will open to reveal new gems on the next move.

The clock on the right counts down in realtime, and resets whenever you make a match. If the clock runs out, gem crates will slowly fill the board. Click and hold on the clock to speed up the timer.
