Grab your cycle and enter the grid to compete in a fast-paced, last-man-standing match with up to four players. Compete against your friends or the computer to see who can get the win by closing off their opponents' only way out with their trails.
This is my first PICO-8 game. I got inspired to create a light-cycle-like game when reading up on nerdyteachers' color detection course and seeing a mock-up of a light-cycle game being used as an example. Most of my time was spent on making the logic for the COMs, since I wanted my game to be playable alone. They could still be improved, as currently they only try to avoid dead ends and dodge collisions. Also, for finer grids their pathfinding becomes to expensive, so I have to strike a balance between slowdowns and the COMs not being able to see very far. So for the gridless setting it is best play with your friends. I may revisit this project in the future. but I hope it is fun nonetheless.

A Rumor of Hearts
A top-down action adventure for PICO-8
Version 1.1
Lots of improvements and fixes!
- Added shooting sword beam when the player's health is full!
- Navigation assistance: at the bottom of the screen, there are now "rumors" indicating which direction you need to go to get to the next heart container.
- Heart containers must now be obtained in a certain order.
- Enemy health and damage no longer scales with the number of heart containers. Instead, enemy health and damage is fixed, with easier enemies near the starting area and tougher enemies in the endgame areas like the graveyard and the mountains.
- The player no longer loses all money and bombs upon death. Instead, the player respawns at the starting area with 3 heart containers of health.

Wizard Cat :3
Wizard Cat will conjure panels and needs help placing them to unlock the mysteries of the universe.
If panels are unable to match Wizard Cat's magical design, they must be trashed. Trash too many too quickly, and the mysteries of the universe will be lost forever! Or until next game.
Level Bonuses
Difficulty increases by adding new symbols and colors, every level. Every third level starting with level 5, you also get to pick a bonus that affects gameplay.
Level 5
- Mercury - You will know the immediate next panel.
- Venus - Increases luck.
- Earth - Unlocks Rainbow Panel, and start each level with it. Rainbow Panel matches any color panel, as opposed to Multi Panel which matches only four specific colors.
- Moon - There is a chance that trashing a panel does not count against you. Based on luck.
- Mars - When you place a panel, you recover completely.
Level 8
- Jupiter - Increases luck.
- Saturn - You will know the panel that will appear, two turns later.
- Sun - Remove panel can appear, based on luck. The remove panel allows you to eliminate
Level 11
- Uranus - There is a chance that trashing a panel does not count against you. Stacks with Moon, and based on luck.
- Neptune - You will know the panel that will appear, three turns later.
- Pluto - Increases luck.
Level 14
- Galaxy - Unlocks Galaxy Panel. This panel will appear 3rd each level. It matches any panel, and when clearing a row does not disappear. Truly a power to behold!
- Comet - The first time you trash a panel each level, it does not count. Avoid obnoxious "game over" just because the first few panels were not what you needed!
- Space Station - Provides hints, showing you what moves are available to you with each panel. Uses advanced AI technology! (j/k)
Luck
Luck affects different bonuses, and also how often Multi Panel appears. Multi Panel matches any symbol for the colors they represent, making them very valuable later in the game. You start the game even with a random amount of luck. Most everything affected by luck is a raw percentage (5 luck is 5% of something happening). Wizard Cat will sometimes tell you exactly what your luck is!

About:
This game was created in 16 days using Pico-8 for Comfy Jam: Spring 2026. It includes the core limitation of seamless loop (with the infinitely looping background and gameplay) and the optional additional limitation of no visible numbers (which resulted in the sheep-based score counter).
I'm pretty pleased with how this one came out! I was inspired by Dino Run as a game I loved growing up, so I view this game as (very simplified) Dino Run meets Annihilation if that makes sense to anyone lol. Enjoy!

Fadin' Funds: Deepspace Trader
Fadin' Funds is a hybrid shoot-em-up and trading simulator inspired by Guardian Legend and Patrician II. Upgrade your ship and fight off aliens as you travel the space lanes buying goods at low prices and selling them at a profit to pay off an awful medical bill. The galaxy holds several interesting people, a live economy to interact with, and varied vistas, all packed into the tight constraints of the Pico8 game engine.
Instructions
In Easy Game you have a loan shark who you owe 24 payments of $500. He's ruthless, and gives you 7 days for each payment: beware, the countdown starts every time you pay him! If you don't have the funds when he asks on the last day, he will repossess your heart implant forcefully! The same applies in Hard Game, but you owe $1000 per week. In Quik Game, you have 30 days to raise $10000 all in one go.

This is just a basic mockup of my upcoming Sonic 1 PICO-8 port. I didn’t have ghz textures at this point, so the level is empty.
