Read title.
I used to play with WASD, Space, and the numerical keys to shoot wherever I pleased without having to spend time and space aiming with a mouse or manually by stopping to look. The latest update removed the bindings for diagonal shooting so this has really hurted me in particular, and I suspect other people who got used to that control scheme might have this problem as well.
I humbly ask for the diagonal shooting bindings to be implemented into the config screen.

Version 0.1.5 is now available! The most interesting change in this version is that it's now possible to create your own character graphics for a particular level. Once you update, here's a level to try it out on:
(it's also in the BBS LEVELS menu)
I've just discovered that 0.1.5 breaks vob loading. So, if you need to load any vobs in the editor, you might want to wait approximately 6 hours for v0.1.6, which is a quick patch to fix this. So much for my fail-safe testing procedure. [~ _ ~] ROBOT DISAPPROVES.
In the meantime, you could try drawing over the fox in this level (vob number 6). Or there are some notes near the end of vox.txt on how to set up a character from scratch.

What if as your next project you turned Voxatron into a MMO style game?
-
F2P mmo with a Cosmetic cash shop (maybe browser based for convenience and accessability)
-
random generated dungeons with several tiered explorable lands, killing bosses doing small quests etc.
-
lots of super cool loot and gear
- Bartering only trade system (no money)
Your beautiful 3d voxel graphics similar minecraft and 3d dot game heroes..with epic coop/pvp multiplayer gameplay would be a huge success imo.
You'd not only make lots of gamers happy bringing a game like this into the market but surely you'd make $$$$$
gogo make it happen..
OR am i just dreaming?
For the first week of Voxatron's release, Lexaloffle has been basically in information processing mode. Not only processing incoming bug reports and feature requests (which I do appreciate, by the way!) but also revising the systems for processing and processing the results of this process. The whole thing is one step away from a giant cluster-fuck, I'm telling you.
But one thing I've just updated which I think will clearly provide a bit of relief is to divide the Voxatron forum into sections, including a support/bug reports forum. I'll get around to actually tackling more of these soon, but at least perhaps people having similar issues can now find each other.
It also provides a mechanism for organising the levels that are being posted. There are now 3 sections just for levels, each with a very distinct function.
Finished Levels: This is for posting levels that are polished, completeable, and unlikely to be updated. (or not until a major version update in the case of WIPs).

Hi Everyone!
Just a quick little note to make sure your level is linked to the BBS as I see many blank posts with no link at the top.
MAKE SURE! that when you have uploaded your level and you are posting it you LEAVE the code eg. [#1934] at the top of your page. OTHERWISE your level will not appear on the BBS and people will not be able to access it.
I hope I have helped as I encountered this as well.

Here's the map file for Adventure Mode:

Keep in mind that this level evolved as I was adding stuff to the editor. So it's a bit messy -- not the best example to learn from. There are some weird triggering schemes that were work-arounds for missing features that now exist.
By posting this file on the BBS, it's now creative commons. So feel free to remix it, make a hard or easy version, grab any models you want or sell it on the side of the street.
Respect to oldtopman for managing to pick the map out of vox.dat with a hex editor. You can thank him for prompting me to post it a earlier than I would have otherwise.

Love the game, excited to see where it'll go, all that stuff everyone's said. :) There are a couple things I'd like to see implemented though.
1) In the editor it's possible to see the shadows items cast come down directly beneath them, but this doesn't appear possible in the game. I'd like to have this as an option, since it would making jumping sections easier to manage.
2) A voting system for BBS Levels would be great, of course. What I'd also like is some way to distinguish between levels you've already completed and ones you haven't, so you can keep track of what you've completed.
Thanks,
-Zach
