The game is still very bare bones. Next I will add the Boss, which will be at that big table in this middle of the screen and slam down at it with his fists when there's too much uncollected paperwork.
After that maybe a time system, with each day becoming harder.
Then I'll fix the collision bugs... maybe.
With the CPU cost adjustments in 0.3.0d, the userdata() constructor costs a lot more to use. I understand that this is to push users to allocate once and reuse, but there are several userdata operations that only apply to all rows, meaning you have to reallocate the userdata every time the size of your data changes. Fire a laser? Reallocation. Collect an item? Reallocation. And for large enough lists, the reallocation costs are quite significant.
I'm working on a 3D graphics library. The idea is you have a list of sprites along with an object transform. The object transforms are applied to the individual point lists (so list 1 uses transform 1, list 2 uses transform 2, etc.). Afterward, they are all concatenated into a list which is sorted on Z using ud:sort, translated into a sspr batch, and fed to sspr.
The transform step uses ud:matmul3d, which can batch operate on a list of vectors. But it always operates on the full list of vectors, so I can't create a temporary buffer of, say, 16k vectors and only do matmul3d on the 3k vectors I want to draw. Same with ud:sort, which only has parameters for which column to sort on.

This is a tiny logic puzzle game based on a weaving structure called "double two-tie" twill, which forms really interesting labyrinth shapes on fabric. As the player, you control the direction of the wavy lines in the fabric via the threading (the letters down at the bottom) and the treadling (the lines along the right side), and your aim is to match the pattern generated at the beginning of the game. (it's randomly generated, for infinite replayability :)
background / tl;dr
You don't need to be a weaver to play the game, but if you're curious about how it works: the yarn running vertically (the "warp") is threaded into one of three possible patterns, those are A, B, and C.(On an 8 shaft loom, you have 3 blocks to work with. If you had a bigger loom, there are more potential blocks.) The loom raises and lowers those warp threads in a regular pattern so that the horizontal yarn ("weft") can pass over and under the threads, creating the pattern. Every group of A threads will lift together in the same pattern, every group of Bs lifts together, etc. Double two-tie twill is really interesting to me because each block can be controlled independently of the other blocks, so you can choose which direction the pattern is going for each column, leading to the funky labyrinth shapes.
I had this idea while I was learning how double two-tie weaving works because I needed to remember a complex treadling pattern without needing to look at my notes all the time. The way my loom is set up, I figured out how to 'read' the direction of each block based on which shaft levers are up and down, which is where the very non-standard treadling orthography comes from. @edit: Fixed a bug where game crashed after score 21.

Picotron's mouselock() does not capture the mouse cursor correctly. It's very easy to move the cursor fast enough that it escapes the window, preventing tracking and allowing the user to click on other windows they didn't intend.
How to reproduce:
- Run Picotron in the default windowed mode (not fullscreen)
- Call
mouselock(true) - Move the mouse vertically
- Mouse escapes window
The mouse movement itself also seems to be rather jumpy with mouselock enabled, probably due to sampling the OS mouse cursor between moving it to the window center.
This is using Windows as the host OS.
Since Picotron uses SDL2, ideally it should be using the relative mouse mode: https://wiki.libsdl.org/SDL2/SDL_SetRelativeMouseMode
This should guarantee that the mouse stays within the window and will report raw mouse movement needed for first-person games.
Hello, I do not know if this is the correct avenue to ask a question like this but I wanted to at the very least try.
About a day ago i bought PICO-8 using my card. Despite taking the payment, it still hasn't arrived to my account and
I'm starting to think that something went wrong. I already sent a e-mail regarding my problem as recommended in the purchase page. While waiting for a response I thought that i might as well ask around here to see if anyone has had the same problem before. But who knows, maybe its normal to wait a day... to be honest i have no clue, this is my first time purchasing software from somewhere except Steam or GOG so maybe I'm just used to their fast service speed.
For some detail and clarification: the payment took me to Humble Bundle which i didn't have a account in at the time (I made one after the purchase just in case, but i don't think the purchase is linked to that account) Right now it's telling me that it is "waiting for the merchant to accept the payment". I haven't received any recognition of my purchase from either my e-mail or lexaloffle account.
