I just made this "game" to test out my coding skills, it's branched off of the pink ball thing in the manual (with some changes), but I think its decent!
Controls:
Left: change ball color
Up: increase ball size
Down: decrease ball size
X: squint borders
O: unsquint borders
I know it's more of a test than anything, but I think it turned out well.
P.S. There is a secret mode in the code if you wanna try that out.

Using just the general law of gravity and Newton's second law, I created an orbital simulator.
I calculate the desired speed to put the masses in orbit around a heavy central sun, but otherwise just let the physics do the work.
Honestly, I was surprised this works due to the low-precision numbers with Pico-8, but it does!
Controls
Hold X: Trace orbits
Up/Down: Change G, the universal gravitational constant
Left/Right: Center camera on a different object

This is an example game made following a tutorial found here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdLmU93eWisKpyk1WZywUSYAq5dkCPFIv
Thank you, Dylan!
I intend to go over the code again and comment over everything to explain what everything does to make future references easier to decipher.
After that, assets will be added and this code will be used for future, more creative, games.
I do not expect anyone will actually enjoy this game. I'm more posting it hear to enjoy my work and explore the BBS service.
Please be kind. I'm new and learning to develop as I go. Thank you.

Hello!
This is my attempt to implement Reigns for Pico-8. This is my first game, so don't judge me too harshly =)
The game features many of the original game's storylines.
The storylines are unlocked sequentially. This isn't the full version, but it's enough to spend a good amount of time with =)
Some storylines only appear once and are locked for subsequent playthroughs once completed. To start over, wipe the game from the main menu.
If you find a bug, let me know and I'll fix it.

Hello, my first game in Pico-8 if anyone wants to try!
A spaceship roguelike space-shooter game.
Choose your ship, earn EXP and gain new upgrades to survive through 34 stages with different enemies, meteors, explosions and more!
Over 15 different uppgrades, including spread shot, spinning orbs, rockets, nova...
Oh and please if you want write your score, how far you got, what you think or if you find any bugs in the comments :)
Would love some feedback!
Started from Lazy Devs great tutorials:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81WM_cjp9fo&list=PLea8cjCua_P3Sfq4XJqNVbd1vsWnh7LZd

This is a silly game I created during a trip to London. Can't wait to see how far people will go.
Instructions
See the confetti. Sort it into the correct bin. Repeat.
To see the scores just move your mouse to the top of the screen.
Contains NO AI "CONTRIBUTIONS" but a ton of silly goofiness.
Have a good day :)
Welcome to the Number Lab
This is a little educational toy to illustrate how numbers are encoded as bits in the computer.

There are 8 bits you can flip on and off, and below you can see how they are read in hexadecimal and as an integer. You can add and subtract from the integer to see how simple math changes the bits, and you can shift the bits left and right to watch the number get multiplied by 2 or divided by 2.
Toggling the extra info display, you can also see the 8 bits represented as a fixed-point signed decimal and a signed integer.
Playing with this, you might get a sense of the pattern determining what number each bit represents, why powers of 2 are used so frequently in computer science, and why you might see errors when doing math that's easy for humans but difficult for machines.

READ CONTROLS BEFORE PLAYING
Controls
left and right arrows to move each direction.
C to jump, the height varies depending on how long it is held for. Tap C for a very low jump, hold for a long jump.

Very beginner friendly
another cool photo
Da Game
be weary of the Rooster
Fun behind the scenes stuff
I first began the project in april. I wanted to make a test demo for a enemy idea I had for a different game, I thought it was a super cool original idea, and then I realized I had created the monty mole from SMW.
Always wanted to try my hand at a game jam and signed up for the GMTK one. Well I knew I wouldn't finish in one weekend but two isn't that bad.
The idea is that you don't move the player directly but shoot at stones to tell them where to go. You can activate a shield that fills up as you move. Collect as many gems as the room fills with fire!
’Two steps forward, and three steps back..’
You wake up at the bottom of a dark and nasty hole.. and the only one way out is up.
Controls
Hold [x] to charge jump
While charging, aim with [left] and [right] keys.
How to play
Platform up through the levels to escape the hole.
Falling is dangerous, there are no checkpoints or safe-zones.
This is a punishing game, but its not very long, so don't be disheartened if you fall back to the bottom.

Krystman (LazyDevs) for his excellent PICO-8 Breakout tutorial, which was the starting point for this project and a great help while learning game development with PICO-8 and Picotron.

converts .font to .ttf, via https://www.pentacom.jp/pentacom/bitfontmaker2/
some fonts may not convert perfectly, for example, if they have an inconsistent space after each character, or if they use large offsets. it should work near-perfectly for any font structured similarly to the builtin ones though
