Fadin' Funds: Deepspace Trader
Fadin' Funds is a hybrid shoot-em-up and trading simulator inspired by Guardian Legend and Patrician II. Upgrade your ship and fight off aliens as you travel the space lanes buying goods at low prices and selling them at a profit to pay off an awful medical bill. The galaxy holds several interesting people, a live economy to interact with, and varied vistas, all packed into the tight constraints of the Pico8 game engine.
Instructions
In Easy Game you have a loan shark who you owe 24 payments of $500. He's ruthless, and gives you 7 days for each payment: beware, the countdown starts every time you pay him! If you don't have the funds when he asks on the last day, he will repossess your heart implant forcefully! The same applies in Hard Game, but you owe $1000 per week. In Quik Game, you have 30 days to raise $10000 all in one go.

Fully playable, but a bit rough around the edges.

Cursed!? is a quick, solo, push your luck, fantasy themed game.
You have been cursed by a witch and the only way to get it lifted is to take on nearby monsters in the dark forest and gather some souls for the witch so she can complete her ritual and lift the curse on you.
The curse causes everything you touch to turn to ash so you have to use weapon and items you find on long dead adventurers. This means every weapon and item you get is random and you have to make the best of what you draw. Due to the push your luck nature of the game the items you can find are extremely powerful when used at opportune times and help mitigate a bad weapon draw or a monster with a nasty trait.
Here's a utility function for performing userdata operations (add, mul, etc.) over subregions of 2D userdata. I find it hard to keep straight in my head which arguments go where, so this simplifies things (for me).
-- op2d(op, src, dest, ...)
-- This is a utility function for applying a userdata operation
-- between subregions of 2d userdata.
-- It applies the given op between the lhs and rhs userdatas, from
-- the region
-- (sx,sy) -- (sx+sw-1,sy+sh-1) (inclusive)
-- writing the results to the destination region
-- (dx,dy) -- (dx+sw-1,dy+sh-1)
-- `op` should be a string naming one of the userdata operations
-- ("add", "mul", etc.).
function op2d(op, lhs, rhs, dest, sx, sy, sw, sh, dx, dy)
local src_width = 0
local src_offset = 0
local dest_offset = 0
local src_stride = 0
local dest_stride = 0
local u = lhs
if type(lhs) == "userdata" then
src_width = lhs:width()
[ [ Continue Reading.. ] ](/bbs/?pid=190046#p) |
Userdata operations (I've tested mul and add) divide by 0 and crash when dest_stride == 0, len < spans and the src argument is a number rather than another userdata. E.g.,
spans = 12 len = 10 dest = vec(0,0,0,0) vec(1,2,3,4):mul(1,dest, 2,2, len, 1,0, spans) |
The destination parameter can also be true or nil and the same behavior will trigger. However, if the src parameter is an actual userdata, the crash won't occur.
I've tested other values for len and spans and the crash seems to occur consistently when len < spans.
I'm running Picotron 0.3.0c on Linux Mint.
In the Dungeons Together, it is a game about 2 thieves who got caught and sent into the dungeons of the castle. They were shackled together and needed to coordinate if they wanted to escape.
NOTE: the point of the game is to discover how the mechanics work

Just finished up my first PICO-8 project! It's a submission to the Narrative Design Awards 2026, a jam that ran over the past 3 weeks.
It's inspired by the Zelda titles on the GameBoy and mostly focuses on the narrative elements, with some basic combat and a few bossfights but no puzzles or dungeons.
The theme was "Harvest" and with the first nice days at the start of the month "bees harvesting honey" was a natural choice, especially with the cute and vibrant graphics of the PICO-8.
My main resource anxiety starting this project was sprite space, as I knew I wanted a 16x16 player sprite and bigger bosses, so I chose a spritestacking approach that allowed me to mirror, position and layer sprites on top of each other for each asset.

🐝 Bee Quest
Bee Quest is my first PICO-8 game, and I thought it was only fitting to release it on World Honey Bee Day, May 20.
In Bee Quest, you play as a busy little bee collecting nectar from flowers and bringing it back to the hive. You can carry up to 20 nectar at a time, then return to the hive to deposit it and help grow your colony.
But watch out, hornets are flying in to slow you down. If you get hit, you lose a life and drop some nectar. Every 10 nectar collected earns you a stinger, which you can shoot to defend yourself.
Control: Use arrow keys or a gamepad to maneuver the honey bee.

FLIP
A digital PICO-8 adaptation of the press-your-luck card game "Push" by Ravensburger.
Core Gameplay
On your turn, either Push Your Luck by drawing cards into public piles, or Bench your points to save them from the die.
Placement Rules:
You can draw cards one by one and place them into up to three piles.
- A pile cannot contain duplicate colors.
- A pile cannot contain duplicate numbers (1–6).
- A pile cannot contain more than one Roll card.
- You cannot create a fourth pile.
The Die & Risk Mechanics
Cards you claim are placed face-up in front of you on your Stash. These cards are vulnerable until they are stashed.

This is just a basic mockup of my upcoming Sonic 1 PICO-8 port. I didn’t have ghz textures at this point, so the level is empty.
