A silly little game about piloting a tugboat in space. Get the cargo to the red circle and drop it off to win!

Simple Roulette table for fun.

Pick up Chips and place them on the table. More Chips can be added and they can be stacked on top of each other. Hovering over sections of the table reveals the name of the bet to be placed and the payout odds. Place your bets carefully because you can't pick up a chip once it's placed. When you are happy with your bets spin the wheel and sit back. Winnings PLUS the stake are added to your chips and the next round begins.
The number of plays are displayed at the top left and when you are out of money this will reset to zero so you can see how long you can last before going broke.

Controls

Usual Keys/Controls are used. Prompts are displayed on screen.

Rogue Loop is a looping arcade roguelite platformer where every stage wraps around from left to right and top to bottom. Each run builds a new world from handcrafted rooms filled with enemies, upgrades, hazards, locked doors, and boss fights.

Choose a character, explore the looping map, defeat every enemy to earn the key, then unlock the door and reach the exit flag to advance. Powerups can strengthen your weapon, change your movement, or alter how you fall, but you can only hold 10 at a time.

Every three levels, the Quadropus boss appears, and the world becomes more dangerous as you progress. Clear level 9 to beat the loop.

Characters

Each character starts with different health, weapon stats, speed, and jump feel.

===Update 05/24/26===
Significant updates this time! We now have:

  • Functioning main menu/level music
  • 2 types of enemies (blobs and ghosts)
  • basic pathfinding AI for enemy mobs
  • a death/game over state that sends the player back to the main menu

I'm hoping to soon be able to work more on level design. As I'm following along with LazyDevs' tutorial, I am looking forward to learning how to use procedural generation! More to come soon!!

You are the boss.

A hero rises to end your reign. You cast him down. By the next round he's at your gates again, stronger.

So the question is yours: are you boss enough that he never gets through?

Controls

  • arrows — point at the grid
  • O / X — fire your two moves

The boss tracks the hero on its own. Just point and strike.

The rivalry

The hero is a single glowing letter, but he reads your tells and dodges. Beating him is a conversation: feint, threaten, commit, land before he reads you.

He learns. Every round he comes back smarter, harder to break. You grow with him too: every win sharpens a move you already own, and every so often you add a brand new one to the rack. Two opponents on the same ladder — only one reaches the top.

This is an updated version of the previous snake game that I uploaded a while back. This version changes how scoring works, and adds obstacles.

Guide:

  • Blue - This is your snake. It grows in length as you collect pellets.
  • Yellow - These are pellets. Collect them.
  • Red - These are obstacles. Touching them will cause a game over.
  • Green - This is the gate. Drop your segments off here and build your score.

You want to collect the pellets and take them to the gate. You gain points for each pellet that you drop off, and your length will be reset to 1. Additionally, more obstacles will appear as you collect pellets. Pellets that are collected do not contribute to your score, you must take them to the gate!

===============================
Weapon Controls + Tips

  • A to use equipped weapon.
  • Hold B + direction to swap weapons.
  • Press B with no direction to switch to gun.
  • Wave projectile will delete hostile projectiles on contact and pierce enemies.
  • Missiles insta-kill normal enemies and have a large AOE.
  • Sword has a large melee range and can deflect enemy projectiles, making them lethal.
  • Holding the attack button with sword equipped charges a large laser that extends across the screen and is a OHKO on normal enemies.
  • Boost weapon increases your speed for a second, and insta kills enemies when you run into them, although while boosting you take double damage. The speed boost will persist after switching weapons but you won't deal damage when running into enemies.

Hi, I'm trying to build emojis strings in Pico-8 so I can paste them in Bluesky and alikes. It works fine with some basic Pico-8's shift+(A-Z) chars, like ⬅️➡️⬆️⬇️🅾️❎ and a few others but goes wrong with anything beyond this, like #️⃣ emoji. They're multi-chars encoded but that shouldn't be a problem, instead of a single char they're longer strings like any other we can put in clipboard with printh("#️⃣", "@clip"), but then it becomes the raw "#ヤま◆ヌ⬇️こ" string once pasted.

Edit: Printh is probably not the only issue here: simply paste "#️⃣" to Pico-8 editor, it'll turn to "#ヤま◆ヌ⬇️こ" which can't turn back to the emoji. So I guess those encoding or character lost are a Pico-8 bug. The issue won't show as obviously in VS code, where you can put strings like this with no pb, but result is the same with messed up emojis in clipboard because Pico-8 is loosing sthg in between.

My very first game. I initially wanted to make a shmup, but then changed my mind and decided to give it a "classic arcade look" and turned it into an endless shooting range.
The gun was inspired by Quake shotgun.

Big thanks to Lazy Devs and SpaceCat for all the tutorials.

How to play

Use Left and Right to move and X to shoot.
Score 100 points to earn one life. If you run out of ammo, you lose one life.
Shoot the boxes to replenish your ammo.

Changelog

  • The bug where when the last bullet hits the ammo box, even if the ammo is restored, the next bullet will consume one life, has been fixed.
  • Added bullet trails and pixel explosions.

About me

My name is Niko Kozlowitz aka Kandy Soda, I'm a composer and sound designer and I decided to start making games.

Balgema is a simple cozy match-3 game for PICO-8.

It is not overdesigned, and that is intentional. There are no special gems, bombs, or other extra mechanics. Some players may find it very basic, but I wanted to make a calm and stress-free matching game without timers or complicated rules. When you start the game, you are placed directly on the game board and can start playing right away.

Controls

Move the cursor with the arrow keys.
Hold O or X, then press a direction to swap gems.
You can also enable mouse controls in the menu.
When mouse controls are enabled, click and drag a gem to swap it with a nearby gem.

Everyone knows devkit has Shift as its only modifier.
Actually, that’s a total lie. (Or maybe some feature hiding)

I, during testing of my WIP picoOS (not the OG), I found that Ctrl combos would produce kana.
I tried Alt, but it’s either not implemented or prints control codes.

The existence of this means the sandbox in which player mode is contained isn’t that airtight,
which is good and allows for some hacks
(Like- the whole vibe of PICO-8 is hacks)

Now, it isn’t a 1:1-type mapping, but regardless, this means game devs aren’t gonna ask you to
“press Shift+O on keyboard, then up-left on controller, then menu button” to copy.

I’ll make a table of Ctrl combos and their mappings into P8SCII, and you can all help.

Now, please @zep don’t remove this.

Footage to be added.

This is my very first Picotron project! It started as a throwaway cart to learn some of the tools / API by doing, but things escalated a bit and now it's a complete game.

What is it?

Qwest of the Orbs is a silly exploration / puzzle game, where you're tasked with searching for magical orbs. Each orb gives you passive abilities that unlock more of the world, and surely nothing bad will happen if you collect them :)

The game isn't super long, probably around 30min to 1hr for a first playthrough. But there are a couple of small secrets to be found, and multiple valid paths you can take to collect the orbs!

How to play

For the most part, I think the game explains itself well enough. But if you’re having trouble with it, read below for more detailed instructions:
