THE MISSING SCIENTIST
A brilliant scientist working in a remote location, conducting a top secret experiment for the Futurion Corporation, started sending more frantic and more unhinged messages. Then suddenly, he stopped communicating.
Codenamed Project Glow Worm, his work was at the edge of science. Futurion got backing by various governments on thought-exercise projects related to hyperdrive, time travel, advanced weaponry, and other concepts. All concluded and results secretive. But this new work was not theoretical -- they BUILT something.
YOUR JOB

map_ext includes two functions (mset_ext and mget_ext) that allow for set/get of tiles larger than 8x8 pixels/1x1 tiles.
I wrote these functions to match the format of the built-in mset/mget/spr functions. Basically, mset_ext() is like mset() merged with spr(), but it sets the map tiles instead of needing to be drawn separately each frame.
This cart includes a simple demo that shows a 2x2 sprite and a 4x4 one, but the code should work with any number of dimensions. If you run into any issues or have any ideas/requests for this code, please let me know.

Features
Platformer, shop between stages, annoying man talking to you, portals
Controls
arrow keys/left stick to control movements or to scroll objects in the shop.
z key / circle button to jump, buy stuff at the shop.
x key / cross button to access log entries and continue game.
Plot
You are a prisoner in an unknown environment for some experiments. An annoying man is talking to you about surviving traps, collecting gems and coins.
You must collect all gems as fast as you can, in order to buy something for the next stage.
Your health is also decreasing every second, and health upgrades can help you to continue.
Items
- Gems: you must collect all of them to complete the stage. The faster you are in collecting a gem, the more coins you will get for it.
- Portals: they come in pairs and they teleport you in different places of the stage.
- Dead people's log: the previous prisoners left some logs before their death.
Enemies
- Drones: vertical and horizontal drones will relentlessly follow their paths and they can damage you if you touch them
- Laser Turrets: turrets are firing lasers every fixed interval of time in 4 different fixed directions (diagonals or horizontal/vertical)
- Cyber dogs: these dogs smell your fear and hunt you when you are near them.
Music
The cartridge contains 3 self made song plus a @Gruber song.

Hello all,
Here is my first Pico-8 game. It is called "16 Tiles". 2 more minor additions before the game is out of beta:
- Add a save name to the high score
- Create and add music
Please feel free to give feedback. Anything is welcome. Take a look at my code as well and feel free to butcher it.
Hope you enjoy this simple little game!
TraxRyu

The great American presidents of history battle it out to see who's the strongest of them all.
Play single player against a bot or locally against a friend.
I would recommend using controller if possible for the best experience.
Controls
- Left/right arrows to move side to side.
- Up arrow to jump.
- Down arrow to duck back.
- X(X on computer) to punch.
- O(Z on computer) to kick.
Super automatically activates when orange bar is full.
Moving past the edges makes you wrap around to the opposite side.
Comment what your main is.

Howdy all!!
I am currently taking an aerodynamics class as part of my graduate studies and did my final project for this semester in picotron.
It's a thin-airfoil simulation tool/toy that lets you design an airfoil and see what its properties are using thin-airfoil and lifting-line theory.
You can also use the velocity potential to make some particles move around the airfoil (though this has some flaws that I wasn't able to fix in time and is not physically accurate). The streamFunction code is in there, but I was unable to make function before the deadline.
Most equations are from Anderson's fundamentals of Aerodynamics. I'm currently working on the paper component of this project, and I'll try and link that here once that's complete so anyone can see the equations underlying the toy.
Note that for anything related to velocity potential, streamfunction or particles, the Simulate! button needs to be pressed before it will recalculate (the iterative numerical computation caused a lot of slowdown so this was necessary).
it should go without saying but this is a toy and is not intended for serious engineering work.

Just released the Galaktisk distribution here https://github.com/Astralsparv/Galaktisk-Picotron-Distribution
This comes packaged with custom software, alongside Springloader https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=179595 by @KeyboardDanni!
To be installed with https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=153464 / https://github.com/Astralsparv/Distribution_Manager.p64/blob/main/distribution_manager.p64
I would like to use the entire map (128x128 tiles) but I just noticed that after the 32th row of tiles, sprite from the sprite tabs appears, in an unconsequencial order, and if I use one of those tiles I get weird sprites in the sprites tab too.
I'm pretty sure I never pasted those sprites in the maps, they should only appear in the sprites tab.
Is my file corrupted or something?
How to recreate the file with a blank map section?
I uploaded an example.
UPDATE: Thanks to @Doriencey explanation. Map is in fact 128x64, and the bottom half is shared with the tabs "2" and "3" of the sprites tab. It's weird, but, it is what it is. Pico8 choice.

Coffee Run
Grab a cup and hurry up !
An arcade runner in which you are a lost skier in an endless forest. You need to pick up coffee to keep warm and dodge trees , stumps , snowmen and big snowballs at the same time.
How to play
Controls
X - to jump or to start the game
Z - to hit
⬅️/➡️ arrows to move
Speed and coffee level
In this game you have speed scale which is accually an indicator of your caffeine lvl. It constantly decreases until it reaches zero, and then your character freezes and falls asleep. To avoid this, pick up cups of coffee by increasing your caffeine level, as well as the speed of the game.

Very very early (but addictive) attempt at a 2-player TRON-like lightcycle game. I have kept the code incredibly basic as this will be used in an upcoming workshop at my local hackerspace.
Currently works, player 1 uses left/right arrows, player 2 uses o/x buttons (Z/C on desktop). Game keeps a tally of how many rounds have been won by each player.
Planning to spice up the graphics, add audio/music, and add a few more features.
This will never be a "full" game though as it's still designed to be made by beginners and ultimately let them tweak it into their own "fuller" game.

rewrote enemy collision and added health and damage
adjusted player jump height
changed enemy spawn function to be expandable to other enemies
consolidated some other code into separate functions for ease of use (I think)
added new map area!!!!
oh god I think im ready for some level design
need to do:
player death
title screen, end, death screens
add new enemies
so much more

picotron-distributions
Adds support for custom distributions into Picotron
To make a custom distribution, simply ensure your boot.lua is named custom_boot.lua and put it into /distributions!
You can generate a distribution based on the active /system by running this program again.
Installing through this also gives you the bios terminal utility, rebooting the system and entering the BIOS.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my first ever game which I developed for 20 second game jam 2025. I am playing with Pico-8 ever since I discovered it. It is fantastic I really like the retro and all in one development environment. I hope you like this game as well, it is a top-down survival game however you need to type the combos that are shown over the monsters. Thank you for playing it!
