Hey everyone,

I'm working on making an affordable true physical voxel 3D display - no glasses, can view 360 degrees around objects - and am hoping to get game designers and game enthusiasts -- such as those who love Voxatron -- interested in the project. These things actualy actually exist, but most people have never seen them outside of hollywood special effects, learn more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volumetric_display --- Wouldnt' you love to play voxatron in physical 3D with chunky bits you can look around by moving your head instead of just staring at a 2D screen?

My partner has been building these since 1988 for museums and special displays and we are working to get them into hands of regular people to watch volumetric 3D video (voxies) and play voxel based games like Voxatron and Minecraft. Volumetric displays have traditionally been only affordable to medical research, oil drilling companies, and the military at prices from US$30,000 - US$150,000. Imagine a whole arcade setup with games built using the Voxatron engine --- but displayed so you could stand around them like campfire? The Voxelcades are coming! But you can get your own personal VoxieBox in the not too distant future ---

With the VoxieBox we are trying to debut a consumer grade display around the same price point as the MakerBot --- between $1500-$2500. Eventually we'd like to get that down to about $300-600 if we can get a high enough volume of them into production. We've got a number of working prototypes and will be launching a kickstarter.com project soon to show them off and raise money to get them manufactured. We want to get them into the hands of developers such as Lexaloffle and people creating 3D video and games with the Kinect so there will be lots of great things to hack around with and enjoy on these types of displays when they go mainstream.

If you're interested please leave your email at http://voxiebox.com so we can notify you when the kickstarter project is up.

Sean

PS crap, i hope this doesnt feel spammy --- apologies if it does!

Hey everyone!

So I've been getting better acquainted with After Effects, via videocopilot.net, and here's a little splash screen I came up with for gaming.stackexchange.com.

Gaming.SE Splash Screen

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone, let me introduce myself first, as this is my first post in the forums. I'm proton, and I bought this game a few weeks ago. It's one of my favorites, and I love all aspects of its design; it has lots of potential and I will certainly be anticipating any new updates. :D

Also, I was just wondering, I wanted to contribute some information to help shape the official Voxatron Wiki (the one found here), but I see no way to start a new page. I was just wondering if it's open to registered users or it's off limits for now. Either way, thanks a bunch!

Hey All

I added a few more features to the BBS:

If you click on a user's name to view their profile (here's mine), you can now also use the links at the top to view a summary of their posts, levels and files. There's also a yet-to-be-implemented favourites mode that will allow you to view/play another user's voxatron level favourites.

The posts mode is useful for checking up on your own posts. If you want to see which threads have replies in them, view the posts list on your own profile and look for the speech bubble icons on the right, indicating that there are replies to the thread.

I've also added some links to the Voxatron page:

Wiki

User-made wiki for all things Voxatron. Thanks to everyone who started this off, I think it will become a great resource. It will also become the definitive source on how to use the editor, once I get around to updating it with undocumented details!

Today I planned to buy the game for a friend, but when I got home to buy it, there was literally 1 minute and 30 seconds of time to buy it. Anyway, I think it was quite hilarious, but is there a record what was the time of the last purchase of the game? I want to know if someone beat me.

Hey guys! Me again!

Are any of you fans of Chiptune music? I know I sure am. So much so in fact, that I've slowly been compiling a playlist on Youtube of some of the best Chiptune [mostly] I've come across. It's currently up to 88 videos with a total running time of 4:40:49.

Interested? Check it out here: Chiptune'd!

Unfortunately, I haven't really updated it in quite a while, so if you know any music that you think would be a great addition to the playlist, drop a comment and I'll look into it!

Hey everyone!

You may or may not have seen me around the forums yet. If you haven't, then Hello! =]

Figured it's time I started posting versions of my first (and extremely slow-progressing) Voxatron adventure. I hope to get some feedback from the rest of you, many of whom are much more avid players than I. I'm currently caught in finals, so I haven't had a lot of time to actually PLAY Voxatron, I just post a lot on the forums. :P

Anyway, on to the level!

This is the emotional beginning of a grand, and terrifying adventure beneath the ground, through crypts, tombs, and catacombs that will test you at every turn.

I'll be updating this post with new versions in the future, so check back for updates. Any and all feedback is appreciated (but please don't tell me to make custom trees).

Idea by Alchemist!

I saw his level and thought "Hm... I don't like how it's done.".. instead of complaining, I built it myself - everything is handmade (except of the Butamons (='Minotaurs') ;)

There is a little Problem with the boss, but it's a problem with the mob-script itself, nothing I could change. See for yourself :)

I am on Ubuntu Studio 11.04 (AMD64) and I have been unable to run Voxatron without a crash immediately on getting to the main menu selection screen, looks like some sort of ALSA bug, dunno what exactly:

Is there something I can do to turn off/disable sound, or some workaround to use something other than ALSA? I'm normally using Jack, with ALSA compatability set up .. normally works fine, but not in this case.[box=ffd030]
