It's a platformer, a difficult one!

I made this in 3 days for my patrons as a Halloween gift, then took an extra day to polish it up and include some spooOOooky music by Tim Monks. Now it's available for everyone, hooray!

Good luck, little pumpkin!

its laggs somehow

It seems to run pretty smoothly for me and I can't find anything causing slowdown... it does have a teensy bit of inertia/drag on the player motion if that's what you mean?

I know not everyone likes that kind of motion though, if you like ~really~ snappy input or really slidey input then yeah this game is going to not feel great sorry. This is just how I like it :P

I didn't notice at first, but I think it's more about your game running at 30fps. If you can port it to 60 it will be like day and night. here's a good exemple @60fps: Hungry Harry's Climb

OK, so I took a while to try making a 60fps version, I've got it so it looks like all the movements and stuff match with the 30fps version and is just smoother but I'm not sure if it feels quite the same. I dunno I've always liked 30fps so maybe that's just my preference showing through and this version is fine?

anyway here's the 60fps one if you want it :)

Wow, this is super good! I like that the hitboxes on enemies and spikes are pretty forgiving, as games of this style can sometimes be pretty brutal on that end. Also, turning the slime into a springboard is super satisfying! Had a great time with it. :)

I'm glad you posted about Pumpking HD because it reminded me that I really wanted to finish this after failing too many times when this was released. I kept at it and was successful! Loved it, and it became less stressful when I found out that jellyfriends don't hurt. lol.

Also, Pumpking is such an awesome name!

Super slick ! Great platformer ! Just in time for the holidays.

This is for the 30fps version which runs just fine for me.
Here's a star

This game is great. Somehow I didn't notice it last year.

P#68498 2019-10-05 03:19

The jumping is a little wonky. Hold down (O) and rapidly move left and right. You will see even holding the button down it skips places.

I noticed you are looking for and scanning for the jump button in in 5-different locations in your code. These line numbers.

189, 227, 246, 310, 642.

Perhaps ... one might be enough and might stabilize the keyscan ?

Although I also have complaints about the jumping like @dw817, I'm happy to have discovered this game this Halloween season. Even if it was frustrating at times:

It's Halloween, so I'm playing this little gem.

Great fun game with a couple of secret areas...

Another great game Sophie although the ending part is a tad brutal, don't you think? :)
