Help Mr. Swop find stars by swapping tiles around!

Use the arrow keys to move and X/Z to see your stuff.
The game takes maybe an hour to 100%.

You can now die from caffeine overdose!
You can now be fired and become homeless in this late-stage capitalistic society!
The game is still very bare bones. Next I will add the Boss, which will be at that big table in this middle of the screen and slam down at it with his fists when there's too much uncollected paperwork.
After that maybe a time system, with each day becoming harder.
Then I'll fix the collision bugs... maybe.

This is a tiny logic puzzle game based on a weaving structure called "double two-tie" twill, which forms really interesting labyrinth shapes on fabric. As the player, you control the direction of the wavy lines in the fabric via the threading (the letters down at the bottom) and the treadling (the lines along the right side), and your aim is to match the pattern generated at the beginning of the game. (it's randomly generated, for infinite replayability :)
background / tl;dr
You don't need to be a weaver to play the game, but if you're curious about how it works: the yarn running vertically (the "warp") is threaded into one of three possible patterns, those are A, B, and C.(On an 8 shaft loom, you have 3 blocks to work with. If you had a bigger loom, there are more potential blocks.) The loom raises and lowers those warp threads in a regular pattern so that the horizontal yarn ("weft") can pass over and under the threads, creating the pattern. Every group of A threads will lift together in the same pattern, every group of Bs lifts together, etc. Double two-tie twill is really interesting to me because each block can be controlled independently of the other blocks, so you can choose which direction the pattern is going for each column, leading to the funky labyrinth shapes.
I had this idea while I was learning how double two-tie weaving works because I needed to remember a complex treadling pattern without needing to look at my notes all the time. The way my loom is set up, I figured out how to 'read' the direction of each block based on which shaft levers are up and down, which is where the very non-standard treadling orthography comes from. I know that didn't make sense, look, pictures: https://rebeccamgreen.com/twill-labyrinths/
This is my first pico-8 game and I hope you have fun playing! <3
Did you know you can find top ranked carts by searching for t:?
Carts are ranked by stars, as you would expect...
Categories
This works not just for carts, but in all forum categories: Releases, WIP, Blogs, Tutorials, you name it.
Filters
Doesn't work with Lucky Draw, naturally.
- But it works with all other filters (New, Featured and Favorites).
SPLORE
Also works in SPLORE's search tab.
Even in handhelds, it's quick to "type" with arrow keys.
- Note that
:is the first character when you press ⬇️.
Latest
If you want to limit the search to the latest carts / threads, you can specify that.
- Named durations like
t:week,t:month,t:halfyearandt:yearwork. - You can also specify a number of days. For example, for the last 5 days, use
t:5.
Range
You can also specify inclusive time ranges with tr:, like tr:2022 or tr:202210-202305.
Since when?
This was introduced by @zep last year, but he only mentioned it in this comment and in version 0.2.7's changelog.
Game made for lowresjam2026!
You control a cat trying to escape inconvenient hands!

@edit: Fixed a bug where game crashed after score 21.

I made this a while ago but I'm just now getting around to uploading it. It went through a lot of iterations before I landed on this. In it's current state, it's mostly finished. There are several stages to progress through and an "ending", though it doesn't force a game over.
You can double jump in the air if you collect a coin (You shine blue when you're able to double jump)
Something cool happens if you let the flower bloom, then try and pick it up.
This game started out with an idea "what if I made a game centered around a jump rope". The first iteration was a horror game, then it evolved into arcade game. I hope someone finds this and enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.

This is my entree for my friendgroup's game jam
press z or 🅾️ on controller to mute the music
hit the pipes to increase speed
you "win" if you get to depth 400, you'll get a lil badge if you do it
you get a second badge underneath if you do it pipeless as a lil challenege for pro The Lone Drop players

A remake of an old Flash puzzle game from 2001 called Circle the Cat by Grandma Faith.
Wall off the tiles one-by-one and box in the cat before it reaches the edge of the board.
Controls
Place walls with X, reset with O, move the cursor with the arrows.
Rules
The cat moves one tile per turn and always takes the shortest route to the edge. If it gets there, it runs off and you lose. Wall it off completely to win.
Behind the scenes
Made to look and feel like the original Circle the Cat, with some minor creative liberties. The game has no sound, to preserve the vibes of the original.

Controls
The story
A spaceship on their mission in the universe got hit by a meteor, scattering the crews all around. There's no hope for them to go back home, but at least they can die together.
As the captain, your goal is to gather everyone in the vast galaxy, avoid obstacles, then head together toward the sun.
Behind the scenes
Last Light is a puzzle game based on Sunburn! by Secret Crush. The full original game is no longer available on the App Store, so I made a tiny version with Pico-8.
The first version comes with 20 levels. Let me know what you think - if the game gets enough interest I can add more levels.
