Hi, guys.
This is my first PICO8-game, a "The Force Awakens" fan-project:
You play Rey on her speeder and have to pick up electronic gargabe while avoiding vehicles in your way.
Outstanding Pico-8 adaption of Rey's Theme by Chris D. (@gruber_music).

I am looking forward to your feedback and suggestions.

No Diagonal Movement, why not?
Also, for a bit of realism, you could make it so that moving forwards is slower, and moving backwards is faster.
Other than those, nice progress so far.

but yes, diagonal movement seems strangely absent.

This looks awesome and plays really well!! You definitely nailed the parallax of that floor!
Enemies appear pretty brutally though. Maybe put an indicator of incoming enemies that are still off-screen?

Nice game, that parallax scrolling is very effect in conveying the sense of speed!

Seems weird the smoke stays rather stationary while the ground goes so fast under it, doesn't it? Looks weird when you move too... Maybe make it go to the left at least a little?
Also you should add puffs of smoke when you collide with other vehicles.

You are right! Did some minor changes to it, looking better now, I think. Good idea about the collision particles, will add that later!

Cool menu screen and nice parallax effects! The gameplay leaves a lot to be desired though.

Beautiful! And pretty nice yet simple gameplay.

The floor paralax is neat but the background would need other levels of paralax, with the bg object, clouds and haze on different planes because right now, it really looks like a scrolling 2D plate that move behind the scene, and it totally contrasts with the nice floor paralax you put on the front. (and so breaks the illusion of depth)

@DiFFtY: You are absolutely right. First I thought "No way!" with the sprite banks fully used and the big star destroyer in the back, but on second sight, I found two options to increase it a little more. Thanks!

Smoke effect is nice but feels static.
by giving each smokecloud a velocity equal to your lowest parralax speed you can improve speed effect a lot.

Improved the smoke effect a little and added the topmost row to a layer of parallex of it's own.

This is so well done. I found this from your post in the pico-8 art thread. That image you posted there and this game are top notch.

I love the artwork in this - that Destroyer in the background is awesome :)

"The Lair" has a sweet parallax effect that would look really good in your game;

Great looking game, and the movement feels pretty good too. I just wish the collision boxes were a bit more forgiving! Felt like I could really get trapped between a couple enemies in the blink of an eye sometimes.
