I made a post on RetroAchievements's forums if PICO-8 achievements could ever be possible, and a developer said the RetroArch/LibRetro core is wildly outdated, and it'd need to be updated for PICO-8 to ever be possible. So, I thought, maybe alongside Splore, a new online feature could be Cheevos, aka RetroAchievements integration? If not in the standalone release, maybe a LibRetro core could be provided that would have the updated and latest version of PICO-8 in it could be bundled in the purchase, along side Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi?

tl;dr: Can RetroAchievements ever be added, either by LibRetro cores, or in PICO-8 standalone?

You play as Grab, a little goblin stuck in a bag of holding. Your job is to collect potions and equipment for the noble Sir Conrad.

Move along the grid, avoid bananas and caltrops, collect and eat gobberries for a speed boost!

Made for the Portland Indie Game Squad Summer Slowjams 2026, the theme was Inventory & "Use it or Lose it"

-Updates-
-added iframes when stepping on caltrops
-equipment and potions will no longer spawn in the same tile
-tapping a direction button gives you a slight speed boost (I promise)
-high score added
-final score is now a total of Sir Conrad's experience plus the number of Gobberries collected

======================

Wanted to share an updated cart for Alacrity! There's still not too much to do but I reconfigured a lot of the code. I got the first cart running using a lot of cobbled together pieces and snippets I saw other people use for their carts and it works, but I didn't understand how anything worked and anytime I tried changing things it all fell apart. So I rebuilt it myself so I can properly understand the game while I work on it!

There is proper jumping physics and map collision detection (don't get me started on how long that took me). The rover loses battery slowly as you travel along the map (with a player-following camera), and it refills when you "park" back at the rover's hub. Right now all that happens when the battery fully drains is that you get a status message, but eventually it will trigger a lose condition.

Clunky Tank Arena

by Joey Tanden, from 2 Bugs in a Spacesuit

A tense and methodical tank shoot-out, with intentionally-clunky controls!

Juggle the loader, driver, and gunner roles simultaneously to carry your crew to a new high score!

Enemy armor alternates between one of two weaknesses; choose the correct ammo to deal damage!

Invest careful time and control in precise aim for higher damage!

Take cover behind walls, but not for too long, since enemy air support has it out for you!

Out of ammo? Take a hit to gain 2 emergency shells!

The first round is a static practice target, where the player can get comfortable with the controls, and learn the mechanics.

Collect coins before the time runs out! But wait... jumping is tiring... it's hard to reach the same height every time. Tired Jumpman's jump height decreases as time passes.

Controls: Arrow keys to move, C to jump.

Entry for the GMTK Game Jam 2026, with theme "Countdown".

Decode the patterns, race against the clock!

A recreation of a classic math puzzle game with a simple, addicting, and increasingly challenging gameplay loop. Can you spot the patterns before time runs out?

What’s your best score? Drop a screenshot in the comments below, I’d love to see how far you can get!

Feedback and bug reports are always welcome. Enjoy!

v1.1 patch notes

  • mode-specific highscores: highscore screens are now separated by game mode.
  • streamlined progression: reduced total level count from 48 to 24.
  • timer added: non-Stop mode highscores now track your time.

The original celeste cart is 5887 tokens. The parens-8 port of that cart (seen above) is 825 tokens. This port uses the original source code from the celeste cart, almost unchanged, which you can read here.

@notehead
Here's a thread to discuss a collab.

you can see the mode in action here :
https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=139583#p

and some explanations about it here
https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=139595#p

In the example, the modded game was already in 128l x 64c 16 colors mode, but if you want 64 x 64, it's possible to draw in the top half of the screen in 64l x 64c, then set the screen as sprite source with a poke and stretch the screen with sspr for a visual 64 x 64 32 colors mode, even if it's technically 128 x 64 with doubled lines behind the scene.

A lot is possible : you could use regular 16 colors sprites, and use some flags to know which of the 32 colors to use for the sprite, or you could use 5bpp full 32colors sprites, but this would cost 1 line of sprite for the 5th bit per 4 lines of sprites.

the drawing primitives like line or circl won't be directly working, but it's not too hard to re-implement them using clip and the originals, essentially drawing twice, one in each vertical half of the screen.

Hi! I have a question! I would really, REALLY, wanna buy picotron, the thing is... I've tried many different game engines before and they don't meet my needs, so... I wanted to ask, what is the refund policy?

A blackjack variant where you can use logic to learn more about the dealer's hand. Survive 11 hands in a row, one loss, and it's game over. You don't need to get lucky to win. Play the odds correctly and your survival is guaranteed.

Good afternoon. I hope you're having a pleasant day and intend to stay hydrated. I am posting this in order to draw your attention to a serious matter. It seems that I have been roped into this business of game design, with very little actual coding experience.

My nerd bona fides are somewhat impressive. I am the voice and publisher behind the viral video, "Glenn Danzig Grocery Shopping List," which could have been the inspiration for the infamous cat litter photo. I used to mess around with Geocities and Angelfire in the 90's. (Insert obligatory joke about blinking text here.) I taught a middle school course in game design, a pilot program in my district at the time. Hell yeah, my first console was the Atari 2600, and I used to play a ton of Frogger and Asteroids Deluxe, mostly in bars, where I also learned to shoot pool. Under the old Southbound Cinema name, I made student films and even a public access series, most of it on VHS. I have a few albums and EPs on Bandcamp, and have taken the beatmaking route a few times.

Submission for 'Stop Killing Games Community Jam 2026' - as my first Pico-8 game!

You are a pirate that partook on a journey to sail to a mysteries island.
There you discover a "Cursed Compass" near a chest. This chest awakens and a Void open beneath your feet. You are then tasked to feed the "Cursed Chest" different treasures scattered across the island to lift this "Curse" and be allowed to leave.

Use this "Compass" to attract treasures, but beware that the creatures of the island can sense your GREED...

Thanks to @gruber_music for the Music!

You are in a room with 20 other people. The goal is to count from 20 to 0. If two people say the same number at the same time, you start from scratch.

There is no strategy. There is only hope.

This is a digital adaptation of a real game that people do in acting classes. It serves a purpose that is too complicated to be explained here.

Controls: Click the button with the mouse to say the number.

Submission for the GMTK Game Jam 2026, with theme "Countdown".

Mock-Mock

  • Move with arrow keys
  • X/C/V to confirm
  • Number reaches 0 = you clear the level
  • Each level treats the timer in a different way, find out how!
  • On the final level there will be a secret that only pico-8ers will figure out ;)

About:

My submission to this years GMTK jam. Everything was made in a public library.
Very fun idea, I had fun making wacky levels.
