I'm trying to make a pico-8 piet interpreter.
https://esolangs.org/wiki/Piet
It can't be an exact interpreter for the simple reason that piet uses an image as its code and the 20 valid pixel colors are not in the pico-8 palette, but something similar using the 20 of the 32 pico-8 colors might be possible.
The 16 colors max per screen can be overcome with the 64 x 128 32 colors mode, but my struggle is to find what colors to use.
In piet, aside from black that is used as a wall and white as a do nothing, colors are organizes in a 6 hues times 3 lightnesses. Each color has no special meaning, but the difference in hue and lightness between adjacent pixels is what defines opcodes.
We can't simply match to nearest in pico-8, but another 3 times 6 organization might make sense.
Suggestions anyone ?

Santorini
Santorini is an abstract game in which you try to reach the top of a complete tower.
How to play/Rules
The game begins with both players placing down their allotted pieces.
They then take turns moving, and building, with one of their pieces (in that order).
You can move and build in the 8 squares around your piece, you may only move up 1 level at a time.
You are required to do both each round, they are not optional.
The game ends when you reach the top level (the finish line looking piece)
If a piece gets topped (blue checkerboard) you can't stand on it, and it doesn't win either player the game.
Controls
O - Confirm/Select
X - Back/Cancel

update 07/10/2026:
Moved game_mode (single vs. endless) selection out of _init() so that the last selected game mode persists through "Game Over" and back to Home Screen (instead of defaulting back to endless mode).
Poker Drop
A falling-card puzzle game where the goal is to make 3-card poker hands. Cards fall in pairs into a 5x7 well. Make hands horizontally or vertically to clear cards, score points, and survive as long as you can without filling up the well. Play through a single deck of cards for a high score, or play an endless run to see how many decks you can survive. Use shuffles to shake up the board, or escape trouble. You get 1 shuffle in Single Deck mode and you earn a shuffle every $1000 in Endless Run.

Updates:
-Enemy movement mechanics updated (found glitches in my earlier version while redoing all of the code)
-Player bullet drift added
-Placeholder for new enemy type added (currently just resprite of the boss1 minions, but will update once I get a better sense on what the game loop will be)
-UI added (player hp bars, secondary attack reload bar, off-screen enemy arrows)
Now that the code's looking a bit more organized, hoping to start on designing the gameplay loop. I'm thinking I may also create selectable upgrades after each boss fight, i.e., choosing between speed, atk speed and bullet number upgrades or replenishing HP at the expense of forgoing any upgrades. This would reward careful gameplay and punish anyone that tries to spam enemies with bullets from static positions.

This is my game, a text version of Oware with a cpu you can play against.
controls
You can use the left and right arrow keys to move your cursor, which shows what hole you are selecting. You can press x to take your move, which will end your turn, prompting the cpu to take its move. PSCORE shows your score, as in player score, and ESCORE shows the cpus score, as in enemy score.
how to play
Oware is similar to the game Mancala. In Oware, you can choose a 'hole', which has a certain number of seeds in it, and you go counterclockwise around the board, putting a seed in each hole. The hole you choose must be on your side, the bottom of the board. In Mancala, there are extra big holes on the sides of the board called stores, and those don't exist on Oware, if you were at the bottom right hole, you would skip right to the top right hole. The way you score points also differs from mancala. In oware, if your final seed lands in a hole that has, now, a total of 2 or 3 seeds, then you take all of those seeds, and the number of seeds you took will be added to your score. you can also look to the hole clockwise to the one ypou just scored on, if it has 2 or 3 seeds, you can take those too. this can happen continuously, until you stop being on the top row (the cpus side) or the next hole no longer has 2 or 3 seeds. In Oware, the hole you choose has to have at least one seed, this is enforced for the cpu but not for the player, but if you want to play correctly, I recommend doing so. In Oware, you cannot play a move that leaves no seeds on your opponent's side, again, this is enforced for the cpu, but not the player.

Hey @zep! My Podnet folder is appearing empty when I try to open it while logged in to LXO on Picotron. I've also tried accessing it while logged into another device. Using my podweb page as a test, it looks like I can only access my folder when logged out lol. A couple of days ago it was working just fine.

I need some help! Anyone ever encounter this issue before? I've seen it in several of my projects.
When you scroll the screen with a darker color on it like black, it gets noticeably darker!
I have no floating points, camera update delay, etc. that would cause it.
I am aware some monitors have ghosting, but I've tried on my laptop and a flatscreen and it seems to be something
exclusive to picotron! Is this a known issue?
Please let me know if you see it when you run the cart here on BBS. Assure me I'm not going crazy!
If anyone knows how to fix this let me know!
EDIT: a workaround I found is to change your color 0 (black) to a slightly brighter color with: pal(0, 0x1c1c1c, 2)
