hat heap
It's a simple arcade game where you stack hats on your head until they fall off or you store them.
This is my first published game. It was made in just 2 days as a personal challenge.
It's still a bit buggy, but you can have some fun with it.
controls
Left / right : move
O : store the hats

Deliver packages to their destination, but watch out for other delivery drones and be quick or the clients will cancel their shipments.
You can make up to 3 mistakes.
Bumping into other drones will remove points and destroy the package you are holding.

Hello and welcome to Heavy Loot, a tiny PICO-8 game about risk, greed, and reward.
Controls
Controls are pretty straightforward.
- Arrow keys: Move the player
- X button: used to advance through the screens when indicated by the blinking yellow X
Gameplay
The gameplay loop consists of leaving the safety of your trench to collect gold in the open field, then getting back home to deposit your findings and score. To do this, meet the captain at the bottom-left corner of the screen. The deposit triggers automatically when you hit his desk.
The more gold you carry, the higher your score multiplier becomes. But watch out: heavy is the loot! Carrying more gold will compromise your speed, making you an easy target out there.
I've just been playing around with Picotron on Rocknix on the Anbernic Cubexx. It runs the raspi flavour perfectly with no modification.
What works:
- Sound
- Network
- Graphics
- Speed seems OK
What doesn't work:
- I haven't figured out a way to map an analogue stick to the mouse cursor.
- The screen resolution is horrible for Picotron, but it will work better on other handhelds.
- I'll need to figure out a way to add it to the Emustation menu as well. I ran it through SSH.

Blog
At some point my brain just stops working logically and starts dropping frames. I'm happy with this progress and also recon I started with much bigger dreams and ended with just a demo level.
The idea was to turn a hi-concept like a classic Aeschylus play into the 8-bit world.
This turned out to be a good project for me to keep working on, as much as I appreciate the tutorials, creating a simpler idea turned out to be a much bigger challenge, rather than re-skinning Porklike, I have to de-make many of the 2d techniques with buttons and directions into a 1d line. On top I went with the diagonal which I thought would be quirky, which opened a can of worms. Lots of ideas I can try after the jam.
