Version 1.0 Release. It seems pretty stable in my testing.
Magic Garden is my second favourite Ufo50 game. I appreciate some people hate it but I find it very enjoyable. I set out trying to tweak two complaints: 1) that the game is too slow and 2) the walls around the board are a nightmare.
In my version there are no walls, instead we have PacMan style wrap around. The game is also a fair bit faster.
I'm pretty sure I've implemented every mechanic apart from one. Part of the fun of the game is discovering the rich layer of mechanics so I won't spoil that.
Suffice to say, the purpose of the game is to rescue 200 of the pink fellas by dropping them into the star squares. You should be able to figure out the rest from there.

DriveCross
DriveCross is my first foray into game development and it has been a ton of fun. I created this by watching Krystian Majewski from Lazy Devs in the Basic Shmup tutorial. I always wanted to learn how to make a game and stumbled onto Pico8 and then the tutorial series. This game has been a great first step into learning more about Pico8. Looking forward to creating more games and engaging with this community!

Use the arrow keys to move up, down, left, and right

Star Trader's Luck
A digital dice game for 1-4 players
This is a Picotron version of my first Pico8 game: Star Trader's Luck
I ported it using the wonderful p8x8 tool and then modifying the code so it uses the expanded screen of Picotron. I also had to remake the music and sounds using the new system. The notes are basically the same, but it all sounds better...
By default it starts full screen, but you can toggle windowed mode in the menu. It will exit the game and when you start it again it will use the new mode.
Feedback and questions are welcomed!
Edit: Updated the location of the saved settings and now fullscreen/windowed toggle should work fine in sandboxed mode
This is my very early proof of concept for a pico8 version of balatro.
So far currently the game has:
- Basic hand detection and scoring.
- The first 18 balatro jokers.
- Simple blind logic (no special blind logic just bigger score)
- You can view the current deck cards by clicking the deck sprite in the game state.
- You can buy/sell and change the order of your active jokers by clicking and dragging.
- You can look at joker description by holding RIGHT click ontop of joker cards.
What the game doesn't have:
- No planet cards.
- No tarot cards.
- No special boss blind logic.
- No booster packs.
- No ante vouchers.
- No rerolls in shop.

A "Brief" Case by WildCoyoteGM
Hello everyone, this is my first ever PICO-8 project and was made in only 2 days. I've decided to make a simple game with a simple goal, hopefully improving my skills in the future. Anyway, thanks for checking it out. I hope you'll like it :D
P.S. The game is purely chance-based, and winning is only by chance.
function _init()
p={1,3,5,7}
p.x=64
p.y=64
p.sp=1
p.frame=0
p.timer=0
p.anim_speed=0.15
end
function _update()
local lx=px
local ly=py
if btn(⬅️) then
flip_sprite=true
p.x -=1
end
if btn(➡️) then
flip_sprite=false
p.x +=1
end
p.timer +=1
if p.timer > 6 then
p.timer=0
p.frame=(p.frame+1)%2
end
end
function _draw()
cls()
local current_sp=p.sp+(p.frame*2)
spr(current_sp,p.x,p.y,2,2,flip_sprite)
end
