Hello! Thanks for looking at my first published Pico8 cart. This is Slimagotchi, a tamagotchi-like featuring a delightful little slime. Keep it alive as long as you can by feeding it and keeping it happy.
I set out to finish (as much as possible) a pico8 cart in a single month. There's still stuff I'd like to add, so I will be coming back to Slimagotchi at some point. Things like a behavior system, new alternate environments, a more fleshed out store and consumables mechanics.
How to play
Slimagotchi is mostly an idle, you dont really have to do anything. the (O) z button will open the interaction menu, up and down moves the cursor, and the (X) X button selects an action. The minigame is a demake of Frogger. use the arrow buttons to get your slime across the dungeon floor without getting hit by fireballs, or falling into the pits.

Maskara is a SHMUP that was made in 7 days for the Global Game Jam 2026, the theme was "Mask", it is my first attempt at a Pico-8 game
The alien hordes of the Chromatic Empire have descended upon Earth, their forces protected by mysterious coloured shields that deflect ordinary weapons. But YOU are humanity's last hope - a lone pilot equipped with the legendary MASKARA device!
The ancient MASKARA can manifest three sacred masks, each channeling a different chromatic energy through your ship's weapons:
THE GREEN MASK - Channels emerald energy THE RED MASK - Unleashes crimson firepower THE YELLOW MASK - Commands golden plasma
Only by matching the color of your weapon to the enemy's shield can you penetrate their defenses and save Earth from total annihilation!

WaveMaker is an alternative to Picotron's default tracker.
As of version 0.2.0 this is still in beta, please save often if you use it. As an additional protection, if the program crashes it will save a copy of the current file with the suffix ".CRASH.sfx".
Currently the program contains a fully-featured pattern editor, with some advanced features such as multi-selection, jump-step, and shortcuts to manipulate selected values; it is well adapted for both keyboard and mouse workflow.
Be aware that a major difference with the default tracker is that the parameters for instrument, volume and fx each consists of a single-column: when entering a value for one of them, you have to type two digits (or, in the case of fx, a letter and two digits) to validate the entry and go to the next row.

This is a very minor modification of Brenda Holloway's beautiful "Monterey" wallpaper cart
which allows it to display a random sequence of desktop background images (one every 10 minutes
by default) with dithering transitions between them.
To use, create the folder "/desktop/backgrounds" and populate it with 480x270 PNG image files.
(You'll need to disable sandbox mode on the cart for it to be able to access the image files.)
I am working with the Raspberry pi-3 to make a pico-8 console. But I noticed that cartridges with embedded stuff can't load properly. When I play Linecraft, for example, I hit new world, shows the cart loading icon, then sends me straight back to the main menu.
For a lot of others, it just forever loads, never loading beyond the initial cart.
I have no way of fixing this or diagnosing it. I use pico8_64.

My first account on PICO-8.. Despite what the post might say, today is January 30, 2026 (get out of here you time travelers, stop looking at my past). I can't wait to actually learn how to use this website properly and make cool short projects.
I love Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Deltarune (you have to believe me, Asriel is The Roaring Knight, time travelers this aged perfectly didn't it?)

Fox Jump – a tight vertical platformer for PICO-8

Rules
As the name implies, Caravan Angel is inspired by the caravan modes of many PC Engine/TG-16 shmups. The focus is on using speed, precision, and memorization to rack up large scores. The game only ends when the timer runs out, or when the player hits zero lives. If the boss is beaten before the timer runs out, the game loops back around to the beginning, allowing more time to score.
Power-ups spawn whenever a wave is destroyed with no enemies escaping. They stay on the screen indefinitely and can be collected at the player's convenience. Which power-up spawns depends on what the player needs in that moment.

Hey, community! My first time posting here so thanks for any help!
The game I'm working on has started to consistently skip some frames every ten seconds. My question is high-level and abstract; I'm not looking for general advice on computational complexity or whatever.
Basically, do people know how frame skips manifest?
Like, is there a "backlog" of "too much stuff per _update" that eventually results in a few skipped frames? Or would the slow down be more consistent, like if I'm pushing 110% per frame I'd expect every eleventh frame to be skipped, or thereabouts. It's very strange to me that the frame skips happen every 10 seconds-ish regardless of what's going on: lots of sounds/no sounds, lot's of particles/no particles, etc.
I'm asking because I'm trying to narrow down the problem. Am I just doing too much per update? Or have do I need to be looking for a weird spike in computation that happens every 600 frames or so?

Overview
A nostalgic arcade romp inspired by the classic arcade game Food Fight. Charley Chuck races to eat the melting ice cream, grabbing and throwing food at relentless chefs who are chasing him.
- Controls
Directions = move Charley Chuck (walk over food to pick up)
X = Throw food
- Gameplay
Regular mode
Score points by hitting chefs with food, collecting leftover food bonuses, and keep the ice cream from melting as levels grow more chaotic.
Endless mode
Score as many points as possible hitting chefs with endless food before losing all of your lives.

How to Play
A fast-paced Breakout/Arkanoid-style game with a twist: your paddle can jump! Jumping lets you save falling balls, hit them at unexpected angles, and even boost their speed.
You're also equipped with a laser cannon that recharges over time. Use it to destroy hard-to-reach blocks or clear dangerous situations.
Controls
⬅️ ➡️ - Move paddle
🅾️ (Z) - Jump / Launch ball
❎ (X) - Shoot laser

Power Ups
- Slowdown - Slows down time
