If you'd like to take part in P8JAM2, please select one or more themes by clicking on the PICO-8 star next to it (you need to be logged in). You can change it anytime before the 24h voting phase ends -- at 00:00 PST on Saturday the 21st. Check out the jam thread for more details.

Edit: times's up! The winning theme is Chain Reaction. You have 9 days! Good luck!

Hi,
Right now, it's 23:38 PST... The votes have begun earlier than announced.
Will the JAM ends at 23:30 May 29th ?
Thanks for all. You rock !!!
Kind regards,
jihem

P#20885 2016-05-20 03:42 ( Edited 2016-05-20 07:42)

Ah... today I learned the difference between PST and PT. Typing "PST Time now" into google gives PT (i.e. the currently active pacific time which is now PDT).

So yes, the voting started 1h early! But the Jam will be on schedule -- beginning and ending at 00:00 PST (01:00 PDT / PT)

P#20887 2016-05-20 03:50 ( Edited 2016-05-20 08:12)

Good job rigging up this sweet little voting system for us, zep! :3

P#20889 2016-05-20 03:52 ( Edited 2016-05-20 07:52)

Thanks for the answer. You may have to hide the star and the heart in the bbs topics list for this topic. When used, they erased my vote. I voted "chain reaction" then got "Useless PowerUp" and "Blob". I have to remove the heart and the star and vote again to get my choice back.
Have a good day/night (?)
In France, it's 5 to 10am

P#20890 2016-05-20 03:55 ( Edited 2016-05-20 08:00)

Huh. Did it mix your votes up with mine somehow? Wacky!

P#20891 2016-05-20 03:58 ( Edited 2016-05-20 07:58)

My vote seems to disappear when I come back to the page =(

P#20893 2016-05-20 04:24 ( Edited 2016-05-20 08:24)

Caching! JTE -- you were getting jihem's cached page.

I've turned caching off, and your votes should now appear as intended. ;^ _ ^

P#20894 2016-05-20 04:34 ( Edited 2016-05-20 08:34)

When I came to the page, the first and the last option were already marked... When I pressed them to un-check, they just got checked again, though - so I think it was just a visual thing.

P#20895 2016-05-20 04:35 ( Edited 2016-05-20 08:35)

Right -- once you press any of the toggle buttons, you'll see what is /actually/ in the database even when the cached version was out of sync. I'll leave caching off during voting because the site seems fine without it for now.

P#20897 2016-05-20 04:38 ( Edited 2016-05-20 08:40)

\o/ now it's working!

P#20898 2016-05-20 04:57 ( Edited 2016-05-20 08:57)

So Bad It's Good, let's get some glorious trainwrecks!!

P#20899 2016-05-20 05:04 ( Edited 2016-05-20 09:04)

What do you think of this game jam system? Maybe it could be useful for running the pico game jam and possibly to bring in more new picolaborators?

P#20902 2016-05-20 06:44 ( Edited 2016-05-20 10:44)

Who came up with those themes? I really wonder why most jams have so boring, featureless themes. This feels like kindergarten. Most of them are not even themes but only buzzwords. You can not make a story out of any of those so I guess I will skip this jam again after "rain" though I was really motivated this time.

P#20903 2016-05-20 07:08 ( Edited 2016-05-20 11:11)

come on movAX13h! You can do it!

P#20904 2016-05-20 07:14 ( Edited 2016-05-20 11:14)

The themes are rather uninspiring ... but I guess I'll try something out for this jam...

P#20912 2016-05-20 10:26 ( Edited 2016-05-20 14:26)

Very cool...good spread of themes too. Lets jam!

P#20913 2016-05-20 10:29 ( Edited 2016-05-20 14:29)

Here we go. I suppose now it's time to think of something for each theme so that a different outcome won't dis-inspire me.

P#20914 2016-05-20 10:53 ( Edited 2016-05-20 14:53)

Chain Reaction give me an idea.. We'll see :D

P#20917 2016-05-20 11:36 ( Edited 2016-05-20 15:36)

@movAX13h the themes aren't here to tell you what game to make. They're just a spark, a nucleation point for your own game ideas to crystallize around. One of the great things about these jams is seeing how different everyone's creations are despite a central theme.

P#20927 2016-05-20 13:07 ( Edited 2016-05-20 17:07)

@Godzil
I like this one :-)
It give me more than an idea (even if not for the jam).
I hope I can play your cartridges soon. I like to discover new games.

P#20930 2016-05-20 13:32 ( Edited 2016-05-20 17:32)

movAX13h: They're so broad and generic on purpose. The idea is more that the theme is there to give you something to start with if you can't come up with something out of nowhere.

Honestly, even if whatever theme happens is anti-inspiring to you, you should hang out and build an unrelated game in that timeframe anyway, we're all in it for fun anyway!

P#20939 2016-05-20 14:08 ( Edited 2016-05-20 18:08)

Whoop!

P#20986 2016-05-21 04:01 ( Edited 2016-05-21 08:01)

Nooooo... This theme is more likely to give me some serious competition D:!

Obviously that's why everyone-but-me picked it. X3 Alright, let's go!

P#20987 2016-05-21 04:11 ( Edited 2016-05-21 08:11)

Serious competition has arrived! Let's do this!

P#20988 2016-05-21 04:36 ( Edited 2016-05-21 08:36)

Great, I like the theme. Now I just need an idea ...

P#20990 2016-05-21 05:03 ( Edited 2016-05-21 09:03)

I already got some ideas, hope to be able to finish something ...

P#20992 2016-05-21 05:20 ( Edited 2016-05-21 09:20)

Sadly not my topic - I had ideas for each topic, but not for this one and it didn't get any better. But I see a lot of puzzle games comencing ;).
I think I'll use the time to continue with Tower of Rhavenna to get it out of the door finally.

P#20994 2016-05-21 05:51 ( Edited 2016-05-21 09:51)

i will make a drawing for the winner using markers and paper ;]

P#20996 2016-05-21 06:02 ( Edited 2016-05-21 10:02)

Can I use a function made by someone else? And, can I use an existing "game"? I'm saying "game", because it's only circa 5% complete.

P#21002 2016-05-21 08:30 ( Edited 2016-05-21 12:30)

@adrian09_01 yes -- no problem. I've added a note on this in the main p8jam2 thread .

@LJRadio nice!

P#21008 2016-05-21 10:44 ( Edited 2016-05-21 14:44)

P#21011 2016-05-21 11:58 ( Edited 2016-05-21 15:58)

@zep Can I post a WIP and update it like Tetromix?

P#21012 2016-05-21 12:01 ( Edited 2016-05-21 16:01)

@adrian09_01 as the rules says:

Submitting: To submit or update a jam cart before the deadline, just tag it with p8jam2. You can update your cartridge as often as you like before the deadline.

P#21016 2016-05-21 13:16 ( Edited 2016-05-21 17:16)

Wait... Godzil...

Sorry for going off topic, but is that Godzil as in the WonderMadeleine / WonderLyzer Godzil? :O

P#21028 2016-05-21 16:32 ( Edited 2016-05-21 20:32)

Yes I am :)

P#21035 2016-05-21 17:17 ( Edited 2016-05-21 21:17)

Whoaaa! Crazy running into you here! I talked to you over IRC a bit over a year ago, asking about redirecting the WonderSwan's video output if I recall correctly. Cool to see you again!

P#21043 2016-05-21 20:02 ( Edited 2016-05-22 00:02)

What can I say apart from "The World is small"? :D

P#21051 2016-05-21 22:14 ( Edited 2016-05-22 02:14)
