Hello everyone. I wrote a single program to test changing window size in Picotron with window, but I'm getting a weird behavior.
I expected cls to clear the entire window, but it only clears a rectangle equivalent to the initial window size.
Has anyone seen this before? What am I doing wrong?
(below: code, then gif with the unexpected behavior)
EDIT: The problem was that I was only updating the height. When I changed the window update to include both height and width it worked correctly.
function _init()
window({
title="Langton Ant",
height=50,
width=200,
})
h = 50
hd = 1
end
function _update()
window({height = h})
if (h > 200) hd = -1
if (h < 50) hd = 1
h = h + hd
end
function _draw()
cls()
end |

Obliterate social norms by doing the unthinkable - put a GARBAGE CAN IN A DUMPSTER.
>> CONSUME as dumpster.
>> ESCAPE as garbage can.
>> HEAR banging soundtrack.
>> PLAY past the first level because the rest of the game is totally different.
>> or IGNORE this charming first effort from an uncle/nephew dev team.
>> The choice is yours.
>> CHOOSE WISELY.
Thanks for checking out our first game & a big thanks to everyone for all the great pico-8 carts 🎉

This game was an attempt at making a numbers-go-up style game, where most of the game is autogenerated. It quickly ballooned into a huge undertaking.
Your job is that of an Assignment Board operator. You must send crews to complete contracts and generate enough revenue to pay back the company the 100,000 you owe in 30 days.
Music can be toggled off in the system menu. Most of the data is saved, though to save space crew name and icon are regenerated each load and mail is unread.
That beeping is unread mail, go read it!

Hommie is a in-training magic girl from the Orion constellation, who lacks of the ability to float, unlike most of magic girls, but instead has the power to alter gravity. She is also allied with the familiar chimera Bellgeese.
One day, she receives a task from the Intergalactic Magic Bureau (IMB): Defeat a group of magic girls called "The MAgic Girls Of The Round", due one of them owns a forbidden magic artefact. Can Hommie overcome them before they end up causing trouble?... or rather, how many times she will be capable of do it?
- Left and Right Keys - Horizontal movement.
- Up key - Jump (can be used twice and also in mid air).

Just wanted to post this because the update itself was pretty quiet. You can download the update with the link you used to install Picotron, or if you have an account you can click on your profile and go to downloads.
From the Picotron roadmap the main improvements are exporting windowed carts (don't know how to do that), and an actual Splore! You can find it by clicking on the Picotron icon.
Hi all!
So excited to use the new native window feature. However, when resizing the native windows, I often see the black padding around the edges as the aspect ratio changes. This is undesirable and I would like to request an option to either:
a) disable resizing of my cart's native window
b) lock the aspect ratio during resizing
I've attached an example image. The specifics of my cart have been blurred, but you can get a sense of how Picotron handles resizing.
Thanks!

This is my Railway Runner game.
Some kind of soundtrack is still missing, and sort of visual when bro hits a train.
23.01.2026: Added single randomly appearing coins (no collision yet), added some background and static texture.
25.01.2026: Now with multiple coins, appearing in a group of three on a random rail. Added collision detection with a simple score counter
26.01.2026: Added jump feature (trains to jump over to be done).
30.01.2026: Now trains appear randomly. Added score and lives. Upon train crash on live gets lost. Added game over page when lives < 0.

Controls
Movement: Arrow keys
Freeze time: X or O
Rules
Catch as many fruits and items as you can before your lives run out.
You can move in all directions and wrap around the screen horizontally.
Press the button to freeze time so you won’t miss a catch.
Catch everything and score as many points as possible.
Story
You wake up in the middle of the night and realize something strange is happening outside. Fruits are endlessly falling from the sky. You rush outside, grab a basket, and start catching them. Somehow, you are able to freeze time and stop fruits mid-air for a few seconds to help you keep up the pace. If you drop a fruit, you lose a life — lose all of them and the game is over. Fortunately, you can refill both your lives and your super power.
I've noticed in Picotron and in cartridges exported from recent versions of Picotron, sometimes btnp doesn't register, whether from keyboard or gamepad. This is a random occurrence for all buttons as far as I'm aware.
It seems to be tied to processing. Once stat(1) goes up to .9, it starts dropping inputs, which you can see in the attached cart.

Survive the endless dungeon! Dodge enemies, collect coins, and use powerful abilities in this fast-paced PICO-8 arcade runner.
This is the first video game I’ve ever programmed in my life.
For once, I followed the “make small games” advice, and here I am —
with a game that, even if it’s small and a bit silly, actually feels finished haha.
I hope you share your high scores and feedback,
and that you manage to reach level 3 :D
Features
- Fast-paced arcade action
- Multiple enemy types with unique behaviors
(ghosts, slimes, skeletons, beholders, thieves, and more!) - Random power-ups
(Coin Power, Clear Screen, Full Heal) - Dynamic difficulty that scales with your score
The goal? Survive and get more points than your friends!

A remake/demake of Pitfall!, originally released for Atari 2600 in 1982 by Activision.
You are deep in the recesses of a forbidden jungle — an unforgiving place few explorers ever survive. But you've got courage, because you’re with Pitfall Harry, the world famous jungle explorer and fortune hunter extraordinaire. The lure of hidden treasures draws you and Harry deeper and deeper into the bush.
The goal of the game - collect as many treasures as possible.
