a little ball physics/particles toy with a bit of customizability
you can open the menu with the mouse scroll wheel, where you can toggle things like the white ball (i call it the ship lol), friction, ball respawning (endless), ball respawning with velocity (auto)
there are also some visuals you can adjust, those being the screen scale, screen shake, particles, and whether or not the game unfocuses when you click off of it
since the screenshake shakes the entire window instead of just the screen inside it, there is some jank when it comes to window positioning. if the program ends up in a different spot in your tooltray than you left it, try pressing r/middle mouse to reset the balls and it should save its current position for the future

CONTROLS:
- LUDR - move
- Z - drink water
- X - attack
QUICK MANUAL:
- you need to drink water or you'll start to lose hp
- there's 2 types of enemies - passive ( just wander around ), and aggressive ( chase you and damage )
- as you kill more and more enemies, you'll level up, dealing even more damage
- this game is in-dev right now, i plan to add more features if i can ( 1k is not a joke :| )
TRIVIA:
- i used shrinko8 to compress the game, deobfuscated is ~2.2k. now its 1024 bytes ( PHEW... )
- you can give ideas on how could i improve the game, perhaps even do less bytes

A nsfw/fetish-based comedy game for the Heavy Weight game jam.
Obviously won't be to everyone's taste but I'm proud of the fakey-mcfakerson "physics" and the coroutine-based cutscene system so hearfelt thankyou to any brave souls who check it out.
Currently open to any feedback/ideas about how to add more variety and challenge into the levels.

This is a small(ish) game I made to test the flow and function of a bigger game I have planned; "Ifrinn". The bigger version won't be made in Pico-8 though, I just happened to start messing with the engine when I had the idea to make this smaller version.
If you enjoyed this, keep an eye out on Steam for when the full version of "Ifrinn" comes, it's gonna be BIGGER and BETTER than this one! (Twice the dice, twice the FUN!)
Also, if you're feeling generous, feel free to support this game on Itch.io! You'll get a downloadable copy of this game and its soundtrack, AND the proceeds will go towards the development of the full game!
(You don't have to pay to get the download if you don't want to, though)
NOVA STRIKE ( v1.1.4 )
Typical wave shooter, first attempt at a pico-8 game. Takes some inspiration from Galaxian for Atari
Not the best at music, first go in the editor so apologies in advance! You can turn it off in options though :)
What YOU Can Do:
- Shoot stuff
- Grab power-ups that drop (I have shields even, your welcome)
- Bombs for mass clearing of enemies (you can get extra from drops)
- There's a few bosses as Galaxian had a few bosses
- Roguelike-ish with upgrades every few stages w/shop-rerolls
- Unlock new ships by playing stages and resume from where you left off for a casual-experience :)
Features:
- Infinite gameplay
- UI Menu with options, credits, and high scores :D
- Rocketship character
Community Feedback/Tips appreciated!
Note that I am quite close to my limit even with shrinko8 and do not want this to be a multicart title.
Changelog

Setup & Table Layout
Face-Down Palace: Deal 3 cards face-down in a row in front of each player. These remain secret
until the end of the game.
Face-Up Palace: Deal 3 cards face-up, directly on top of each face-down card.
In-Hand Cards: Deal 6 cards face-down to each player to form their initial hand.
Draw Pile: Place the remaining deck face-down in the center of the table. Leave space next to it for
the discard pile.
The Swap Phase: Before play begins, each player may swap cards between their 6 hand cards and
their 3 face-up Palace cards. Use this phase to put your strongest cards (e.g., 2s, 10s, Aces) into your
face-up Palace.
LAYOUT TIP: Your Palace consists of 3 hidden face-down cards with 3 visible face-up cards resting on top of them.
You cannot play these until the central draw pile is exhausted and your hand is completely empty.
Special & Power Cards
Power cards break standard rank progression and give tactical advantages:
Card Role Special Effect & Rules
2 Reset Card Resets the play pile value to zero.
Can be played on TOP of any card,
and ANY card can be played on top
of a 2.
10 Burn Card Immediately clears (burns) the entire
discard pile from the game. The
player takes an immediate extra
turn.
4-of-a-Kind Automatic Burn Playing four cards of the same rank
consecutively (or stacking 4 at once)
instantly burns the pile and grants an
extra turn.
Gameplay Loop
• Playing Cards: On your turn, play a card that is equal to or higher in rank than the top card on the
discard pile. You may play multiple cards of the same rank together (e.g., two 8s or three 5s).
• Drawing Cards: As long as cards remain in the central draw pile, you must always maintain at least
3 cards in your hand. Draw back up to 3 immediately after completing your play.
• Picking Up the Pile: If you cannot play a valid card (or choose not to), you must pick up the ENTIRE
discard pile and add it to your hand. Your turn then ends.
Transitioning to the Palace & Winning
Once the central draw pile is completely exhausted and your hand is empty, you access your Palace:
- Step 1 — Play Face-Up Cards: Play from your 3 face-up cards using standard rules. You can play
matching multiples if you have them. - Step 2 — Play Blind Face-Down Cards: Once all face-up cards are gone, flip your face-down cards
one at a time on your turn without looking beforehand. - Success vs. Penalty: If the flipped card is a valid play, it stays in the pile and your turn ends. If it is
invalid, you MUST pick up the entire discard pile along with that card. You must then clear your hand
again before returning to your remaining hidden Palace cards.
VICTORY: The first player to successfully clear all hand cards, face-up cards, and blind face-down cards
wins the game!
TL;DR - a poke to pause the audio engine like you can in pico-8 would be much appreciated.
I've been working on the Pico-8 emulator, and an issue that will cause some inconsistencies is the inability to pause the audio engine in Picotron without:
a. using the built in pause menu
b. stopping _update/_draw loops
The byte at 0x547f, bit 0x4 does the following:
disabled (set to 0): _update/_draw run, and audio engine runs.
enabled (set to 1): _update/draw stops running, audio engine stops running.
This is used by the picotron pause menu, but it acts seperately to the paused process; allowing for the pause menu to function (having btn presses, _update, _draw, etc).
If you were wanting to pause the audio engine without stopping _update/_draw, it seems impossible as of writing this, since 0x547f bit 0x4 is used for both instead of being seperated into seperate bits or different poke locations.
If somebody wanted to have a custom pause menu that has the same power as picotron's native one, or paause the audio engine for some other reason, they're unable to. Pico-8 reportedly has the ability to do this by poking 0x5f2f (which doesn't work in Picotron).

Pico Taxi Co. DEMO
Hello all! I am new here and have been working on my first game for a probably embarrassing amount of time. In this game, you play as a local taxi company picking up and dropping off passengers in a handcrafted city.
This is the first public version I am releasing to get feedback on bugs, balancing, etc. I am referring to it as a demo because I have plans to add a bit more content that will probably take a while to code. In the meantime, please enjoy the satisfying gameplay loop, and see how many people you can deliver! There are also 8 upgrades to buy at the shop right next to where you spawn in.
I recommend looking over the map before playing!
Below is a picture of the entire map, with labels to help anyone who is struggling to find addresses. It does not have every address on it, however, so feel free to explore the map!
