Inspired by classic arcade shooters and minimalist design, OBSI transforms Space Invaders into a tense, strategic challenge controlled with just one button. Master the "Magic Combo"—tap to dodge, hold to charge, release for a devastating shot and speed burst. Every gesture is a risk/reward decision!
How to Play:
The player character automatically moves left and right rebounding from the screen edges and shoots 2 bullets per second.
Press Button and Release: Emergency dodge, reverse direction and reset shooting time
Hold Button: Slow down and charge a power shot
Release (after charging): Fire a charged shot and reverse at high speed
Keep Holding Button (after charge is complete): enter burnout state, player is invincible but cannot shoot or change direction for a fraction of a second.
My entry for the December 2025 The Eye Jam.

DOPICOWARS
DopicoWars is a turn-based trading and survival game
made for the PICO-8 fantasy console.
Inspired by the classic Drug Wars by John E. Dell,
this game reimagines the core mechanics with a
minimalist retro style, added risk management,
and a challenging loan system.
⚠️ DISCLAIMER
This game does NOT promote the sale or use of drugs.
All content is fictional and presented as an
economic strategy challenge.
GAME OBJECTIVE
It looks like if you run an app sandboxed, it doesn't handle the /appdata/bbs redirection for file change notifications. That is, a handler like this:
on_event("modified:/appdata/festive_lights/config.pod", function()
self:refresh_config()
end) |
...doesn't fire while sandboxed. It also doesn't work if you try the direct path to the BBS appdata:
on_event("modified:/appdata/bbs/festive_lights/festive_lights/config.pod", function()
self:refresh_config()
end) |
This is preventing Festive Lights from updating its lights when the config program saves changes (you have to kill the program from About since the Quit button doesn't work either).

Flea Bounce
Premise
If you have played Hollow Knight: Silksong you may be familiar with the fleas and their shenanigans. It turns out, after you help Fleamaster Mooshka and his entourage you may be invited to some peculiar festivities...
This is a small demake of the Flea Bounce minigame of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Luckily Krat is not in sight... the fluffy fleas are eager enough to be bounced off of over and over again without him!
Control Hornet with some of her moves and try to stay in the air as long as you can, using the fleas to pogo up again and again.
How to play
To stay in the air, you have to hit the fleas on the head. Press Circle to start your attempt.
In game:
- Strafe left and right using the left and right arrows.
- Press Circle in the air to double jump. This replenishes when you hit a flea!
- Hold Circle in after your double jump to glide.
- Press X to slash downwards.
Don't worry. Hornet does use the reaper's crest here.

Concept:
- A space cat named Biscuit needed a quick job to pay rent. The first one she could find was with a company called MineStroid, it's well known how this company cares more for their rare astroid minerals than their employees. Nonetheless Biscuit has bills to pay.
Gameplay
- Collect resources by mining the astroid.
- Basic combat
- find enough resources to meet quota + enough fuel to get to the next astroid
Dec 18th 2025

Have you got the error message when running your saved cart saying
#include file too long
You can optimize the code token and size by using shrinko8 tool. Copy the code bellow the the file, save as cmd and run it.
:: Run Shrinko8 to minify the cart python shrinko8.py game.p8 game_shrinko.p8.png --minify --count :: Run PICO-8 and run the minified PNG start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\PICO-8\pico8.exe" -run "game_shrinko.p8.png.p8.png" ::pause |
This is maybe less of a bug report and more of a feature request.
I'm working on several apps that shouldn't be run multi-instance. I want to inform the user if they habitually double-click the .p64 when an instance is already running, and then exit. This is to prevent, for example, multiple copies of the same dock taking up resources.
I've investigated a few approaches, and none seem to be completely reliable:
-
Check
/ram/system/processes.podfor another process with the same path: Seems to work fine unless you run a separate copy of the cart (i.e. you're running from your local drive and you double-click the one on bbs://). The issue can be seen in the web player here: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=153528 - Check
/ram/system/processes.podfor another process with the same or similar filename: Could be flaky and return false-positives or false-negatives. Would have false-positives if someone names their cart similarly, or false-negatives if the user renames the cart that's being checked for.
update with all the new features! enjoy!
-new features & tweaks:
-32bit integer scoring for bigger and better numbers
-nicer explosions with fillp()
-new enemy type with unique attack pattern
-slightly different scoring (better in my opinion) with +score for bullet hits,different small star drop counts & different (and bigger) enemy scores
-bullet fire rate increases as you get more big stars in super mode
relevant for this version only:
-if you get a score over 1000000 then the UI doesn't overlap
Cosmic Clankrs is a tiny, retro-ish shmup with modern-ish features and mechanics
controls:
x to shoot,
z to bomb if you have any big stars

Controls & Settings
x - shoot
z - confirm/bomb
Arrow keys - move the player or the selection
While the game was designed to be played on Normal dificulty, you can adjust it to be less or more challenging if you desire.
The game can be switched from English to Spanish in the options menu. Please make me aware of any translation errors in either language.
