Hello,

After the release of Steam's Greenlight system for crowd-sourced approval onto the Steam store, I was wondering if there are any plans to submit Voxatron to this system and if anyone else would like to see this happen.

I'd love to see there as well

I would be an awesome boost into further popularity. And that can only mean more brialliant minds creating brilliant BBS levels, making game suggestions, and ultimately making this game grow larger. So I'd love it too.

Definitely agreed here.

I'll be submitting Voxatron for sure, but I want to do the Steam release in conjunction with a major version update to get more mileage out of it, and hopefully spark a bigger wave of BBS creativity. So, likely when scripting and custom object editing are done (along with community features like ratings and "level of the week" etc). I'll give plenty of warning so that I can call on you for Greenlight voting juice!

It's been a while.... any plans on this still?

I'm planning to make a bid for steam with 0.3, which will have the feature set:

  • custom players / weapons / collectable inventory items
  • multiplayer
  • world state saving
  • custom audio and music
  • new demo adventure and arena
  • social features: scores, ratings, web playable bbs levels

These things are quite far through development, but I don't have a rough release date yet.

wow itd be great to make custom tunes and sounds!

EXCITING!

By the way, for custom tunes Voxatron will be able to import .xm modules (with a size limit of 64k to keep level files small). So if you want to try making some music that will be Voxatron-playable, download a copy of the excellent Milky Tracker. To start with, there will be just .xm importing and a standard set of selectable sounds (for things like attacks that are currently silent). In 0.2.8 the standard music and sounds are already in the resource tree, but you can't do anything with them (try hitting the up folder button in the Actors tab, and you can see all the standard internal items).

when 3 rolls around the big changes will also be with distribution, not just the game. this makes the wait even longer. but i encourage zep too take his time with the greenlight and update so it can be the best it can be!

re: importing .xm modules, is .it support planned?

Is this still happening?

^I sure hope so. Voxatron would be a fantastic addition to my Steam library <3

me too! gogo greenlight!
the progression of voxatron already reached the required conditions so I don't see anything stoping it from happening.

Yeah, Steam Voxatron, and BBS levels on the workshop... Dream come true! ^_^

Being a single-man-dev myself, I understand that you must wait for the absolute perfect time to showcase your idea to a market such as Steam. If the game is not a 100% accurate representation of the planned final product, then it is not ready. Take your time, Zep, and good luck.

I've been lurking since the Humble Voxatron Debut... just thought I'd register here to post my support for getting this on Greenlight (and hoping that Steam keys eventually get added to the old bundle)! Glad to see the development is still continuing strong!

Yeah, I also would like the Steam system...

Still waiting...

Yeah, I would still love to see this appear on steam. It could really give a good boost to the community. Plus I think it'd be cool to show off on my friends list.

id agree except green-light has become synonymous with shovelware(with the rare exception) which is why its being discontinued

But fear not! There is still Steam Direct!

hopefully the submission fee will block the flow of unity free asset survival games
