Hello,

I know the topic was already raised when the original (esp32 based) ODROID-Go came out but the specs of the handheld were said to be too limited.

Now Hardkernel released the successor to the Go, the Go Advanced, and this time its based on a Rockchip ARM-SoC and runs Linux. Think of it as a Raspi like SBC sitting in a Case which is meant for (retro) gaming.

Would it be feasable to support Pico8 on it? It doesnt come with a hardware keyboard nor wifi, but the console features an USB Port you can use to connect all sorts of devices including network adapters.

Might want to @zep here.

The hardware definitely has enough CPU and RAM to run PICO-8. Given that the Raspberry binaries are dynamically linked, it's possible that they could run out of the box on the Odroid.

Well On my side alredy try to run the Rasberry binaries and I can't managed to run on my Odroid Go Advanced! Lets see

Now its works! At least for me:

Quick Tutorial:

  • Connect USB Hub: Wifi dongle, Keyboard
  • Copy Pico8 (Pi Version, latest version) to /home folder
  • gave permisions to pico8_dyn to run: sudo chmod a+x pico8_dyn
  • command to run: sudo ./pico8_dyn -splore

To put Pico on EMUELEC, EMULSTATIOIN, RUN FROM SCRIPT, ETC. Follow the following Tutorial:

@hackinc2000 Thank you so much. I've been thinking about buying one just for Pico-8 but I haven't known if it'd work. Now to wait until they get more in stock, I guess.

@hackinc2000 You're right, PICO-8 works perfectly on the Go Advance! Thx for your steps.

However, this is currently only running directly - I had NO LUCK whatsoever in being able to add it to Emuelec ( @dddaaannn's post is great, but was written for RetroPie - and the distros are quite diff)

Did you successfully get PICO-8 added to emulationstation in emuelec? and if so, would you mind sharing the steps?
(I did try asking on their Discord, but no joy)

Has anyone been able to get this added to EmuELEC? I'm very tempted to preorder the Odroid-Go Advance BE mostly for Pico-8 use. I've added Pico-8 to RetroPie using the guide posted above (for Raspberry Pi's) and I don't know if this series of posts help do the same in EmuELEC, since the config looks similar?

I didn't manage to make it work on EmuELEC, but here's what I did to make it run on EmulationStation on batocera linux:
