It's August 8 (8/8)! The perfect time to post a PICO-8 cart. Today, I'm happy to share Revolutionary Girls, a queer narrative game about love and second chances.

This is the first game in our Tomodachi 8-in-1 collection -- the same collection as our Halloween themed dressup game, Spooky Stylin' (yeah, we released them out-of-order... it was Halloween). This is another exploration of ours using PICO-8 to craft late 90s, early 00s nostalgia.
Is there a way to load gfx files in dynamically without using the Sprite Index system? (e.g. Load a bunch of sprites for the next map, then systematically overwrite the sprites for the current map with those for the new map.)
Mainly curious because I know I am going to be using a lot of tiles (I'm making a metroidvania), most of which aren't going to be used at any given time. Therefore, being able to dynamically load gfx in and out would enable some memory optimizations that might benefit the game I'm making.
Probably not going to implement it at the beginning of development, mainly because it would make editing maps a pain, so this isn't terribly urgent.

It's been awhile since I used pico8 so I made a little pet simulator to get back into it. Use the arrow keys to move between the buttons and alternatively feed, wash, or play with your kitty when she's hungry, dirty, or sad. I should probably write some music for this but idk it was just a small project to shake off the rust. but maybe I could add a lose state too.

Pathfinding Algos is an attempt to implement a couple of different pathfinding/enemy tracking algorithms.
For now it has 2 implementations:
- A regular pathfinding;
- The Pacman enemy tracking;
Choose the algorithm you want to try and once you are on the board you will see a top right menu that shows what you are placing.
S - Start point
T - Target
B - Blockers
Use O for changing between them.
Use X to trigger the algorithm.
Left click sets the point, right click cleans it up.
Battleteria
Battleteria - a fast and frantic shoot em up with multiplying enemies.
Space Replicants have taken over most of the known galaxy and are targetting the solar system. Your job is to rid the 50 waves for good.
This is my biggest game to date, with two game modes, 11 different enemies, a high score table and 50 levels. Can you beat them all and save the galaxy? And most importantly, return home?
How To Play
⬅️➡️ - move your ship
❎ - targeted shot
🅾️ - spread shot
Each enemy has a different replication rate, and also some fire back. You have to clear all the enemies to go to the next wave. Later waves introduce walls, which don't have to be destroyed, more just a pain to deal with :)

Big/Large Text Renderer + Input
Some functions that allow for rendering text larger than the original size in Pico-8
This renders text upto 12px large, and 8px wide, with a variable width. It also allows for capitals, lowercase, and numbers/symbols

Bunny OS
Bunny OS (v0.3) is an interactive, cybernetic desktop assistant and note management system built for Picotron.
Featuring an animated 2D pixel-art companion named AOI, dynamic mood transitions, sound effects, and an ambient color-shifting background, it provides a functional retro workspace.
Users can manage text notes with automated ID tracking and pagination.
(v0.1) is an early-stage.
(v0.2) sounds added.
(v0.3) sounds reduced to 25%, added a command to turn on or off the sounds, minor changes on the aoi art.
Commands
System & Hardware Controls
mute — Disable all synthesized sound effects (saved to memory).
unmute — Enable synthesized sound effects (saved to memory).
help — Display the list of primary system commands on screen.
Note Management
note [text] — Create and store a new note with an auto-generated ID (e.g., N-001) and timestamp.

So, the theme voting for TIC-JAM is over.
What is TIC-JAM, you may ask?
TIC-JAM is the game jam for all fantasy console developers! (assuming you use PICO-8, it's for you!)
It runs monthly, has an interesting theme every time, lasts 5 days, and has a secondary
(optional) bonus theme announced on the first day of the jam!
It's perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to join their first game jam!
And what is the theme?
The theme is...
BEYOND THE EYE
Now, that sounds really creative!
Check it out at the link here!
Wormslop
Game Description
This is a variation of the rules for Snake. The snake is now a worm, and instead of linearly growing when eating (and the game only ending due to player error), there is now a hunger bar and a shovel. The worm can cut itself on the shovel and leaves its dead cells behind to reduce its size. Players will want to do this to avoid starving before they can reach the next apple. Speed also increases by five levels, which makes juggling the two main game priorities, staying small and getting the next apple, more challenging.
Controls
Movement: Arrow keys
Start/Restart: z/x
Enjoy!
Hopefully easy to understand and remix 3D engine. Will add more commands to make things a bit easier to work with in the future...
Update 8/8/26: Added better support for sprite drawing and added line drawing. Trimmed userdata to hopefully help improve CPU usage. No more bouncing :(...

A tool for quickly generating P8SCII outlines by selecting a direction (hex) and color (b36). You can copy your outline to the clipboard with
CTRL-C to use it in PICO-8 or Picotron.
Changelog

Asteroids plummet into a distant star. Press left/right to turn your probe and up/x to thrust. Fully encircle each asteroid before they crash into the star.
Shoutout to Michael Brough's Helix, Vlambeer's Luftrausers, and GrizzlyGames' Superflight, this game is a love letter to them.
Made between 4th-6th August 2026 for Jack's Avoidance Jam.
