latest v0.2.0

Become a bow-wielding hero in this game, battling pesky murlocs to reclaim the land!
Jump around, shooting arrows and setting fire to their tents. Collecting pickups as you go until everything's back to normal, oh and there's a blood moon every now and then...

edit v0.2.0

  • aim assisted arrows
  • flame shot (get close to fire to shoot fire arrows)
  • flamespeakers behaviour revised
  • hp regen when moving to a new zone
  • removed help and torch lock mechanics

edit v0.1.1

The first release version

Very surprised to have been able to fit more in after having run out of tokens. Split2d was a major help in saving many a token, obviously no where near what others are doing with pico8 but I'm happy with where this is at for now.

  • config editor to help generate the zone level data
  • better mob spawning (bag)
  • screen shake
  • lifesteal arrow pickup
  • ladder / chains climbing
  • fixed tent smoke in the air bug
  • custom cart label

edit v0.1.0

  • summoner murloc
  • graphic polish
  • token saving

  • basic game loop
  • torches, locks
  • basic murloc enemy

Hi everyone, first upload!

The experience

I've finally played around enough to gain a mild understanding of what's going on. Though still don't quite understand how to make music, but it's no fault of the tracker.. just my own inexperience in composing.
It's been a fun learning experience playing in lua, and more specifically in the pico environment.

Having all the tools so easily accessible makes the development process so much fun. Not dealing with any asset pipeline nonsense really speeds up the process in hashing out an idea.
I have a couple more mechanics I want to shove into this thing but will need to spend some time refactoring to get more tokens. This is the aspect I'm least fond of, but means that the scope has a ceiling, which is really helpful.

The game

A day in the life of a seagull, to fly, chat, rest, catch fish and poop.

  • still need to figure out what to do with the days, and replenishing fish.
  • a win condition or someway to "complete" the experience.

I'd love it if you have a moment to comment and give me any feedback.
