It is -difficult- to get a good piano sound out of Pico-8, isn't it, @packbat ?
I suggest at least for piano that a method be developed that can make use of this AND PCM audio. A compromise between the two possibly including a true WAV sample of real piano as it is such a uniquely sounding instrument.
I'm a little confused at your comment? Both because it's not terribly relevant here - this isn't a piano SFX, it's an FM piano SFX, they're different instruments - and because I don't want perfection, I want something that plays the role and, hopefully, is recognizable enough that people know what role it's meant to play.
It feels like you're trying to be nice to me by demeaning the quality of my work, and I don't understand why you would do that.
Not at all, @packbat. The work you have done here is splendid. Having played several real pianos in my time I was just wondering (and perhaps hoping) if it were possible to play a PCM/WAV sound at different pitches in Pico-8 that would be more like the actual sound of a piano.
What you have is great, I just wanted to see if it could be more. If not, then this as good as it gets, and I thank you for the hard work you've thus put into this MIDI work.

@packbat Nice work with the sound and the song, it is a sound i dearly miss in pico8.
And props for your reaction to that comment! Pointing out why something makes you feel that way in such a nice, non-threatening way is something i want to learn to.
It's absolutely a kart game theme ... and it's fantastic! I really like this one.
Thank you, @taxicomics and @luchak - I worked really hard on SFX and demo song, and I'm glad to hear that people like it.
And @dw817: I'm glad to hear that you didn't mean to insult, and I appreciate the belated positivity, but this still isn't a piano SFX - if you want my best attempt at that, it's this acoustic piano sfx and this honky-tonk piano sfx. And jo560hs has two more piano SFX in the midilib tag: acoustic grand, bright acoustic. This is not a piano.
