This game got made because Tom thought of the punny title. Had to do it. It was a virtual development team, and we had fun making it! Enjoy!
I wanted to get all the myrrh on my first run, but I touched the manger before I managed to because I didn't realise that would end the run.
So I tried again! And with the skill and knowledge from the first run, I managed all 200 myhhr in slightly over 10 minutes (and I'm more annoyed than I should be that it's not under 10 minutes :P ).
I'm sure somebody can do it faster, since I wasn't exactly efficient, but I'm kind of proud of it nonetheless.
Thanks for making this game!
About the path, I focused on searching C door while also collecting the myrrh and a key (yes, just one key is enough).
After going through the C door, I keep going to right top direction. That direction also leads me to the finish spot from under the ladder.
Near the ladder, there was a lot of myrrh too.
Amazing game! I know you aren't christian, but this game is truley a funny, humurous reltelling of the birth story shown in a new way: a parkour game. And on top of that, some of the best pico-8 music I've heard, and stunning visuals. You deserve a star, and this is probably the best pico-8 parkour game.
I liked this game a lot! Decided to speedrun it for a bit, and I got a sub-minute run:
My sloppy attempt could probably be improved by another 5-10 seconds if some tech was optimized, but the route is pretty good. I wall climbed up the awnings, then went up two ladders, then right to the long ladder to grab a key, then up to the H door, then through J to zipline under the manger for the last ~20 myrrh. I managed to do a lot of collecting on up-jumps and some good ladder grabs, but you can also jump-bounce off a guard's lunge for serious height or distance. The one time I did that on the long ladder before the key, I saved 3 seconds. It's not in my record, though.
It helps to know the full controls before speedrunning this game, so I recommend collecting all the myrrh first. Wall climbing isn't the most intuitive, and the slide only works if you aren't in contact with the wall you want to slide through. Understanding how those techniques work is really important, and you'll learn all those skills by just playing the game. Major props for the placement of those 200 collectibles, it was a lot of fun to work out how to get them all.
