edit: this is not the contra jungle theme, it's further below.

Do you think you could make Contra theme music?

That's impressive, using almost every damn note!

I get Jochen Hippel Mad Max "S.O.S." vibes from the beginning of this.

So good! Going to have to check out your bandcamp now, keep it up :P

awesome work!

Thanks. Could you put up a cart? So I have some base to make my demake on? I'd also like if you could make titlescreen tune/jingle (don't know how to call it), the only that you get right after title screen scrolls in before pressing any input.

//edit: Also it looks like it isn't full jungle theme, although if this was supposed to be PoC, then that's OK. Compare:

How's this for a title jingle?

Good, though on NES it was a little bit faster.

//edit:

Now I have hope for a port of Contra.
(Pizza, you've got some skill with trackers!)

Thanks Skyrunner!

I'll try to get you a cartridge with the complete theme up in the next couple days, darkhog.

Wait, are you a Contra?

I wasn't sure.

i dunno how to embed. i iz dum.

It wouldn't be as much of a port of Contra, but rather a demake of it due to Pico's inferior resolution (both tile resolution and pixel resolution). Would probably have to redesign stages to fit with Pico's limits and look good.

Anyway, that needs to wait until after I'm done with HDS.

There it is.

Button 4 for Jungle Theme.
Button 5 for Intro Jingle.

Feel free to grab it and do with it as you please.

Fun Fact: I ended up using exactly all 63 available pattern slots.

And how many were just repeats (i.e. patterns next to each other that contains sfx data arranged in the same way, e.g. 00 01 -- -- | 00 01 -- -- and so on)? I mean, if this could be added: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=2438 we wouldn't have to waste pattern space when we need/want to repeat certain pattern few times before proceeding to the next one.

There are no repeat patterns, if there were recurring patterns I re-used previous ones accordingly, unless I missed something, of course. I could've cut the individual patterns by half and doubled the speed to have less repeats in a few more cases maybe, but I did that a lot already.

Oh, I did take the liberty to add a second lead track for the first about 8 sequences to have a bit of reverb along with an extra percussion track for hihats later on, so there's a bunch of not necessarily needed patterns, but I'd have rather used even more of those.

Sounds really great Pizza, I'm studying this for sure :D

Yeah! I'm so glad to be helping you and others create great music!

Great work!

Hey Pizza, do you mind if I suggest that the Rainwave radio station adds your PICO-8DITION Album to their site?

Sure, go ahead!

Took a moment to look at the contra cart and found that by removing sfx 00, 04, 08, 09 and 56 and then changing in second channel of pattern 00 sfx 04 to 05, not only I freed up 4th channel which can now be used for sounds (which was my main goal), but also freed some sfx IDs that can be now used for sounds like weapons, explosions, etc. at virtually no cost for the music's fidelity - it sound almost the same. Well, except now the song starts with a percussion loop that was meant for continuous patterns rather than the intro pattern. Then the extra lead tracks to add some reverb in the beginning are cut, which has the lead be drowned out more and, well, gets rid of the reverb for the first four patterns. Sure, you can cut stuff to free up some space for other things, but the parts you removed weren't exactly superfluous.
