You are a powerful necromancer, and crusaders are coming for your keep!
Summon an undead army to kill them, harvest their blood, and survive...
HOW TO PLAY:
- Kill crusaders, earn blood.
- Spend blood to summon undead.
- To make an undead stronger, sacrifice another undead to upgrade it. Which undead you sacrifice matters: each one grants a different grafted ability.
- Rush the crusade to call the next wave early to earn extra blood.
CONTROLS:
D-Pad: moves the cursor.
❎: summon on open ground; manage an undead; confirm in menu.
🅾️: back / cancel. On open ground: offer to call the next wave early (press again to confirm).
⬆️: in the summon menu opens the full info card for that undead. ➡️ in the manage window opens the info card for the undead or its grafts.
Pause: guide, game speed, exit to maps.
GRAFTING:
Select an undead, choose sacrifice, carry it to another undead. The donor is destroyed. The host gains three things:
- +% damage equal to the donor's cost.
- +¼ tile of range.
- The donor's graft: a small version of the donor's ability.
Notes:
- Every attacker has two graft slots.
- The same graft twice stacks, but the second is less powerful.
- Supports can't be hosts, but they can be donors.
- If you sacrifice an undead that already carries grafts, those grafts are lost.
- A host can't be moved. Where you put your undead matters.
UNDEAD TYPES:
Physical: Good against lightly-armored clergy. High damage.
Magic: Good against heavily armored soldiers.
Utility: Non-damage undead that help in other ways.
Each undead shows small icons for what it's good and not good against.
CRUSADER TYPES:
Soldiers: High armor.
Clergy: High magic resist.
Flying units: Can only be hit by projectiles
Spirits: High physical damage resist unless revealed
Bosses: Immune to most effects
WINNING THE GAME:
If you survive round 30 on a map, you've cleared it and can advance.
Medals are awarded for lives left at the win:
Gold 18+
Silver 12+
Copper 1+
Try to get gold for each map!
Endless mode is available clearing round 30, where you're racing to see how laggy you can make Pico-8.
TIPS:
- Graft early. Undead costs increase the more units you have, so make powerful units that occupy key spaces.
- Mix both damage types.
- Rushing early helps build up blood for difficult rounds.
FEEDBACK:
Please leave a comment with your thoughts! Your feedback will be implemented in future versions of the game.
UPDATES
v1.1: Initial playtests all had fun, but all said it was too easy. I also noticed the economy spiraled upward with more units (duh). I added elite units, increased base enemy health and armor, and added unit cost scaling. There is now a difficulty slider in the menu to tune your own ideal difficulty.
v1.2: token compression and new maps. Also added new title screen.
v1.3: further balance tweaks.

How long can you balance a broom on its end?
I recommend playing with a mouse (or touchscreen), but the arrow keys also work.
This is my entry for the PICO-1k Jam 2026! I made it in about 2 hours and it takes up only 974 compressed bytes. I'm pretty proud of it all things considered. Especially the fact I managed to sneak some music in there with some memory shenanigans. My personal best is 31 seconds.
Fruit Box [PICO-8] — clear the orchard by making 10
Hi everyone! I’m releasing a PICO-8 version of Fruit Box, a fast arithmetic puzzle about spotting combinations, planning ahead, and clearing as many apples as possible before the clock runs out.
How to play
Every round starts with a 17×10 orchard containing 170 numbered apples and 120 seconds on the clock.
Choose a rectangle on the board. If the numbers on the remaining apples inside that rectangle add up to exactly 10, the selection is cleared. You earn one point for every apple removed. Empty spaces do not add to the total, so gaps created by earlier moves can become useful later.
The round ends when time runs out, or earlier if you clear the whole orchard. The perfect harvest is 170/170.

Klondike
Controls
- Arrows — move the mouse cursor
- ❎ — pick up / put down
- 🅾️ — send the card under the cursor straight to its foundation.
- H — hint. U — undo. N — new deal.
Undo and hint are also in the pause menu if you're on a gamepad.
Notes
Columns re-space themselves as they get deep, so a full K-to-A run still fits on screen with every rank readable. The cursor turns green or red while you're holding cards depending on whether the drop you're hovering is legal.
Comes with three soundtracks, set MUSIC to SHUFFLE if you would like to listen to all of them during gameplay.
I made Lily Leap for #pico-1k JAM 2016
It's 1019 bytes compressed
Here's the Itchio jam page
- Clic anywhere to jump.
- Lilypads respawn when there's only one left.
- You have 1 minute to jump on as many lilypads as you can !
