Made this in 999 compressed bytes for PICO-1K Jam 2026.

Arrow keys move, X and O slow time. Get close to red circles to mine points, but don't get hit!

A recreation of the original 1997 Snake cell phone game. I tried to get as close to the original as I could, right down to the menus. The only addition is adjustable speed settings. For the most authentic experience, Speed 1 closely matches the pace of the original game.

I hope you enjoy!

A nsfw/fetish-based comedy game for the Heavy Weight game jam.

Obviously won't be to everyone's taste but I'm proud of the fakey-mcfakerson "physics" and the coroutine-based cutscene system so hearfelt thankyou to any brave souls who check it out.

Currently open to any feedback/ideas about how to add more variety and challenge into the levels.

This is a small(ish) game I made to test the flow and function of a bigger game I have planned; "Ifrinn". The bigger version won't be made in Pico-8 though, I just happened to start messing with the engine when I had the idea to make this smaller version.

If you enjoyed this, keep an eye out on Steam for when the full version of "Ifrinn" comes, it's gonna be BIGGER and BETTER than this one! (Twice the dice, twice the FUN!)

Also, if you're feeling generous, feel free to support this game on Itch.io! You'll get a downloadable copy of this game and its soundtrack, AND the proceeds will go towards the development of the full game!
(You don't have to pay to get the download if you don't want to, though)

NOVA STRIKE ( v1.1.4 )

Typical wave shooter, first attempt at a pico-8 game. Takes some inspiration from Galaxian for Atari

Not the best at music, first go in the editor so apologies in advance! You can turn it off in options though :)

What YOU Can Do:

  • Shoot stuff
  • Grab power-ups that drop (I have shields even, your welcome)
  • Bombs for mass clearing of enemies (you can get extra from drops)
  • There's a few bosses as Galaxian had a few bosses
  • Roguelike-ish with upgrades every few stages w/shop-rerolls
  • Unlock new ships by playing stages and resume from where you left off for a casual-experience :)

Features:

  • Infinite gameplay
  • UI Menu with options, credits, and high scores :D
  • Rocketship character

Community Feedback/Tips appreciated!

Note that I am quite close to my limit even with shrinko8 and do not want this to be a multicart title.

Changelog

  • Balanced the game more
  • Bug fixes w/drifting mechanic
  • Fixed possibility for boss health table to overflow

Setup & Table Layout
ï‚· Face-Down Palace: Deal 3 cards face-down in a row in front of each player. These remain secret
until the end of the game.
ï‚· Face-Up Palace: Deal 3 cards face-up, directly on top of each face-down card.
ï‚· In-Hand Cards: Deal 6 cards face-down to each player to form their initial hand.
ï‚· Draw Pile: Place the remaining deck face-down in the center of the table. Leave space next to it for
the discard pile.
ï‚· The Swap Phase: Before play begins, each player may swap cards between their 6 hand cards and
their 3 face-up Palace cards. Use this phase to put your strongest cards (e.g., 2s, 10s, Aces) into your
face-up Palace.
LAYOUT TIP: Your Palace consists of 3 hidden face-down cards with 3 visible face-up cards resting on top of them.
You cannot play these until the central draw pile is exhausted and your hand is completely empty.

Special & Power Cards
Power cards break standard rank progression and give tactical advantages:
Card Role Special Effect & Rules
2 Reset Card Resets the play pile value to zero.
Can be played on TOP of any card,
and ANY card can be played on top
of a 2.

10 Burn Card Immediately clears (burns) the entire
discard pile from the game. The
player takes an immediate extra
turn.

4-of-a-Kind Automatic Burn Playing four cards of the same rank
consecutively (or stacking 4 at once)
instantly burns the pile and grants an
extra turn.

Gameplay Loop

• Playing Cards: On your turn, play a card that is equal to or higher in rank than the top card on the
discard pile. You may play multiple cards of the same rank together (e.g., two 8s or three 5s).
• Drawing Cards: As long as cards remain in the central draw pile, you must always maintain at least
3 cards in your hand. Draw back up to 3 immediately after completing your play.
• Picking Up the Pile: If you cannot play a valid card (or choose not to), you must pick up the ENTIRE
discard pile and add it to your hand. Your turn then ends.
Transitioning to the Palace & Winning
Once the central draw pile is completely exhausted and your hand is empty, you access your Palace:

  1. Step 1 — Play Face-Up Cards: Play from your 3 face-up cards using standard rules. You can play
matching multiples if you have them.
  2. Step 2 — Play Blind Face-Down Cards: Once all face-up cards are gone, flip your face-down cards
one at a time on your turn without looking beforehand.
  3. Success vs. Penalty: If the flipped card is a valid play, it stays in the pile and your turn ends. If it is
invalid, you MUST pick up the entire discard pile along with that card. You must then clear your hand
again before returning to your remaining hidden Palace cards.
VICTORY: The first player to successfully clear all hand cards, face-up cards, and blind face-down cards
    wins the game!

Pico Taxi Co. DEMO

Hello all! I am new here and have been working on my first game for a probably embarrassing amount of time. In this game, you play as a local taxi company picking up and dropping off passengers in a handcrafted city.

This is the first public version I am releasing to get feedback on bugs, balancing, etc. I am referring to it as a demo because I have plans to add a bit more content that will probably take a while to code. In the meantime, please enjoy the satisfying gameplay loop, and see how many people you can deliver! There are also 8 upgrades to buy at the shop right next to where you spawn in.

I recommend looking over the map before playing!

Below is a picture of the entire map, with labels to help anyone who is struggling to find addresses. It does not have every address on it, however, so feel free to explore the map!

Hello! Beginner here. After learning a bit of cool things submitting a cart for Pico1k (reducing the cart's footprint is cool!) I decided to keep working on it.

The submission cart is a tiny pseudo-isometric FPS (or First Pixel Shooter), Pyndicate-1k, but I wanted to work on it some more. I loved my isometric games, so I was trying to work that out into the cart. And today, I ran into my first out of memory error!

Here is a short recording of the cart so far (when it does not crash)

A classic game of English draughts, also known as American checkers — simple to learn, but built around surprisingly deep strategy.

This is a simple calculator for a rule to have armor sets split into 3 different slots for D&D Fifth Edition. Extra rules are as follows, as well as the formula used below.

STR requirements to wear armors still apply, with the required number being decreased by 1 for each missing piece of armor from the full set. Extra features such as stealth disadvantage or adding DEX bonus only apply if 2 out of your 3 armor slots have armors that use that feature. If you are wearing one piece of armor with an uncapped DEX bonus, and one with DEX bonus capped at +2, your DEX bonus will be capped at +2.
Armor that is enchanted to be +1/+2/+3 can vary in where it is enchanted. If an entire set is enchanted, then the bonus from the enchantment is applied only to the Set Bonus category, and does not happen without wearing the full armor set. If a specific piece of armor is enchanted however, the bonus only applies when wearing that specific piece of armor. When wearing multiple pieces of enchanted armor from different sets, only the higher bonus applies, with the other being nullified. If two pieces of enchanted armor are from the same set, the bonuses stack.

Ducktales (NES) game engine

Z to Jump
X and down while in-air to pogo

You can't hit things with your cane yet (but you can see this was somewhat in progress)

I last worked on this around 2020, if anyone wants to steal the engine and make further progress go ahead. I think this was originally worked off of some other platformer engine (though I don't recall which). I was fairly new to Pico8 at the time

The Game

Turn-based science fiction game. Build space ships to explore Mercury, Mars, and other worlds to gather data about their resources. Your research facility develops new spacecraft to colonize these worlds. Dispatch vessels to asteroids to collect small amounts of resources, and expand by building stations on explored worlds until you reach the farthest edges of our solar system.

Controls

Use the arrow keys to move the green cursor and press X to select options.

For the date icon: Press to advance one turn, or hold to speed up - though the game will pause automatically if an event occurs.

Use the first icon to return to The Moon base. The second icon lets you switch to bases on other worlds - if you’ve built any.

I’m not sure how much of the game to explain - some players might prefer to discover things on their own. But if you’d like more hints, I will add them here.

Development

Inspired by old Amiga classics like Millennium 2.2 and Deuteros, I programmed until PICO-8 memory ran out. The game now includes planets and moons, stations and spaceships, and even a short intro and an ending sequence. Due to memory contraints, missions are limited and straightforward - no enemies or combat here. Balancing was tricky, and creating music, sound effects, and pixel art was new to me.
Even so, experimenting with PICO-8 is a lot of fun, and I’m still working on improvements.

Version History

0.9.3

  • the symbols in the research category title now hint at how to switch categories:
    • Use < and > in the research menu to switch categories
    • Alternatively, pressing X on a category still works as before
    • < and > also work when the cursor is on a science topic below the category
  • the day count is now displayed after finishing the game
  • freed up a lot of tokens by using P8SCII codes
  • added a hint for skipping the intro
  • activating coolant on Mercury no longer switches the view to resources

0.9.2

  • solved bug: wrong resource index when mars was colonized before mercury
  • removed the "game" menu topic

0.9.1

  • in the 'Production' menu, an ongoing production can no longer be canceled by selecting another product (which previously resulted in resource loss)

0.9

  • first upload

A game inspired by various 7-elevens across Asia.

CONTROLS

To move the cart, use the LEFT and RIGHT Arrow Keys. To dash (once unlocked), press X.

RULES

Get the highest score you can by collecting as many soda cans as possible. Once the cart is full (10 sodas out of 10), you must check out at the cash register on the right side of the screen. You have 4 total misses allowed before the game is over.
