Hello from France! Sorry for my bad english.
I would like to present you The Climbing of Asiic. This is a rogue like inspired by the famouse The Binding of Isaac with a keyboard/mouse gameplay.
I have build this game to prove that it's possible to create Pico-8 games with a good replay value.
So... What's included:
- 6 shot types with 5 shot elements = 30 weapons combinations!
- 16 monsters with 4 variations each = 64 monsters included bosses!
- Many shot types and movement types for enemis
- about 30 items to upgrade your character
- procedurally generated dungeons
- 31 different rooms
- 4 game modes : Hill, Mount, Peak (easy, medium, hard) and Speed Run
- a scoring system
To unlock Mount mode you must download the cartidge and win the Hill mode.
To unlock Peak mode you must download the cartidge and win the Mount mode.
The game is complete except the music. I must finish to write it.
It's a beta version, so some bugs can be still present. You can report the bugs here.
I hope you will enjoy my game!
Some tips :
Monsters loot items. So clean each level to have a chance to upgrade you character.
One item is present in each level. Find it!
CHANGELOG 1.1 beta :
- can now unlock other modes
- reduce the power of some items (rate up)
I don't understand why sometimes I start losing life randomly. I'm going along just fine, and suddenly I'm losing life with nothing hitting me.
Joealarson, you're probably walking on traps (pool of poison, spikes or fire) ;)
I was thinking I wasnt gonna really like this game but then I played it for an hour and i was like.. well s@#$
The bouncing bois are probably the most annoying monsters and the ones that shoot bullets the size of a pixel. When I thought the bouncing purple bois couldnt get worse i saw a red one. i didnt make it
The brown dressed and white haired monsters run at you the second you enter the floor not even giving me a chance to breath I love hard games like this.
Bosses are black ennemies. They are just more difficult ennemies.
I really like this game, and I think that it generally works very well. All I would say is that you should focus more on showing where the boss is and maybe adding something to do with the X and Z buttons.
@Risike, may I suggest you animate anything that can hurt the player, including static objects like spikes and acid.
Further you could add that key O or X shoots in the direction the player is facing so mouse is not a requirement for those who really don't want to use it.
Other than that despite me not being very good at navigating both mouse and keyboard, the game itself is quite good and interesting to play. Gold star.
One slime creeped out of the map bounds through door...
(See that the particles are out of the bound)
