I've found a consistent crash. When I attempt to load a level in the editor while I have a prop or animation (etc.) copied to the clipboard from the previously loaded level, Voxatron force closes (100% of the times that I've tested).
My process is:
Editor
Load Level
level.png
Objects
ctrl+v on whatever object
load level_2.png
crash to desktop
Can anyone confirm if this also happens to them?
Voxatron sometimes crash. That's why I save very often.. but it doesnt always crash
I'm kind of busy right now, but I can test that theory in the afternoon, when I have time away from school :P
I have tried it three times with no crash, I think it may have something to do with your own computer.
A suggestion is to EXIT THE EDITOR before you load a different level and make sure you save often. Your copied prop/animation could still be pasteable, but I haven't tried that yet...
Well, he want to copy a model from another level so he can use it in his own. You can't exit the editor when doing this.
that's why i said COULD BE, not IS. Thanks for clarifying that, blind.
A better way to say that would've been "Probably might be..."
Also it was Kling who copied you, not buggles.
Yeah, I wanted to grab a prop from one of my levels to test/display in a clean environment, but I'm unable. Exiting clears the clipboard, unfortunately. Maybe I should get a new .exe?
Yeah I know I and I dont like whem people dont give credits -_- but yeab buggle as I said re download it. If you use windows it will be a easy re download and it's gonna work.
After restart and reinstall, still no luck with custom weapon or copy+paste.
I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
i5 3570k
GeForce GTX 460
16GB RAM
Can't imagine what the issue could be. Updating video card drivers because it can't hurt.
My computer is also windows 7 64 bits, thou your computer is better in everything else, are you using voxatron on admin mode? did you tried closing all the programs when trying voxatron bug?
also, did you use any compatibility mode on the program?
your computer is obviously better than mine but maybe I could help on something -
How you know its better?
You could sure try admin mode on windows it's annoying :(
Well, my specs for the desktop computer:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel i7-860 Processor
8GB Memory
1 Terabyte Hard Drive
ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card
If it works for me on 8 Gig, I don't think it is a memory issue...
@bugglesman is this crash happening in 0.2.9?
This is almost certainly a memory corruption bug (judging by the inconsistent behaviour across machines), and I did find and fix something that could explain it. After 0.2.9 I thoroughly stress-tested the loading / clipboard code and it is much more robust. I'm sorry I can't suggest a work-around for now, but instead just to hold out for the next update.
Yep, it's in 0.2.9. But no problem! It's hardly a gamechanger. Just one more thing to look forward to in 0.2.10!
