I made a simple game for My First Game Jam, and though it's my first attempt using Lua (or basically any other programming language for that matter), I'm proud of my silly little creation!

Hey really nice eggnog! Glad to see what you were able to put together. The code all makes sense and its easy to understand what you're doing, no need to do any of the complicated stuff I was trying to show you yet. Regardless of the code or simplicity, its got all the elements you need for a game, and I found myself tensing up as the doom of the red fish was just moments away, cursing my fingers for finding the buttons so slow ;)

high score 89 so far

Hi gcentauri! Thanks for giving my game a try. A few days after releasing this one I made another game called Nessie Goes for a Swim which is a little more advanced, but still pretty basic in the overall scheme of things. If you'd like to try it, it's also here on lexaloffle! Thanks again for all your help!

Neat little game.

One thing though, I think that the score isn't resetting after death.

Hi enargy! You're definitely right about that! This was my first game, and I completely missed that detail when I submitted. But I've vowed to not go back and obsess over previous games, as I'd rather forge onward and just try not to make the same mistakes in future projects. Thanks for playing!

hi eggnog! if you don't want to bother debugging your 'old' projects maybe you shouldn't post them for people to play. maintenance is also a useful skill to learn. not throwing stones, just sayin' ;)

I have way too many half finished projects going on so don't listen to me but.. If something is submitted I second the idea of at least patching for bugfixes. (The exception would be things that would require a major overhaul of the code base to fix.)

It's up to you, but my 2 cents. Going back to something isn't bad. Remember that bugfixes are different from scope creep.

Hey guys! Again, thanks for the feedback. I uploaded the game to lexaloffle so that I could try it out on my PocketCHIP, and hadn't expected that anyone aside from myself would play it, and certainly didn't expect that the highscore rollover would bother anyone. But if debugging is the usual protocol around here, I'll give it a shot!
