very nice!
a few sugestions:

  • have the eye blink frenetically when you select it, then once in a while
  • make the eye bump a little when you try a blocked move
  • make the eye actually move from head to tail

a little trick for replay value: randomly swap worms colors and flip/rotate the board when you first enter a level (but keep it same if the player resets). same puzzle will look fresh and new

I think it has potential for some good puzzles, since snake puzzles are pretty much a whole genre of puzzle game. That said, you really ought to engineer this game so that it can store pre-built levels. I'd gladly make levels for it.
