Chomp is a Pico-8 game were you have to chomp down pellets and other fruits as they keep coming faster and faster!
Unlock the two harder modes by reaching 10000 points in the previous mode!

In menus, use circle and cross keys ('z' and 'x' on keyboard) and the arrow keys to navigate.
Once a game launched, press any Pico-8 button to CHOMP.

The game is controller compatible.

I really dug the look and feel, but getting up to speed I wasn't satisfied.

(and doesn't chomping move most of the "safe zone" off the screen to the left? That's mean. )

I think I wish it was a rhythm game.

The music is nice but it's ultimately distracting and gets you in that beat, which isn't the beat of the game, especially at the beginning.

Nice aesthetics, but feels like it has way more gameplay potential. I'll agree with tyroney about making it a rhythm game. Also more pellet types and challenges and such would be nice.

the game LOOKS great however the gameplay is lacking. its a real shame but its like a rythm game with no rythm and also a single line. you got a good foundation but its missing quite a lot to be really fun.

Seems to be that based on this game you're more of a programmer and artist than a designer.

Hey thank you for your comments everyone!

So yes, the game lacks in the gameplay part and while I would not dub it intentional, I will say that I thought about it and went "meh."!

@tyroney: Yes the safe zone goes left and but it's still as long and comes right back where it was previously. I do see how that annoys you and I'm really sorry about it :/

@gamax: I know, that was bothering me as well, so I just took the easy path and put a way to deactivate the music from the titlescreen. Not the best way to solve the problem I guess :/

@Stolen_Goods: I've written about this in the linked blog post but thank you very much for the ideas! : )

@mickio1: Well actually, the game is all about design! : ) Only it's just about the design of the CHOMP and not much else at all! I have also written about this in the linked blog post if you are interested. : )

To be honest with you guys, this game wasn't made over a long period of time at all and I really didn't want it too be. From the start, all I cared about in it was the CHOMP part... So I'm glad you guys like it! :D

Only works with player 1's buttons, you should probably mention that!
