Sometime ago, Josh Millard made the PICO Junior.
A few days ago, sta64 found out about PICO-8's Screen Resolutions.
I had the idea to combine the ideas, so I present the PICO Junior (Jr. for short) Challenge.
Requirements:
- 4 colors in total (transparency doesn't count)
- Must be 64x64
- One Player
Everything else? Fair Game.
To make sure that the games are easy to find, I've got 2 ideas:
- Put them all in this post.
- Tag them with "picojr".
I've got an example cartridge, lemme know which method would be easier.

2 Buttons, and the same sound capabilities.
Let me take an example: PICO-8 is to PICO Jr. as NES is to Game Boy.
NES had 5 channels, Game Boy had 4 Channels.
They both had the same controller configuration.

I am, because one button is insane.
However, I didn't say "You HAVE to use all channels/buttons". ;D

"Take the fun of Jelpi on the go!"
Controls:
-Z/Up to jump
-X to dash
-Left and right to move the character.
Here's the example cartridge, how is it?
Version 3: Snow Level, with a little secret ;)
Version 2: added a level, and traps too!

As much as I am happy that PICO JR is part of the inspiration here and am 100% okay with people cannibalizing whatever bits of the cart or my thinking they like there, I've got zero sense of ownership over the core idea itself so I figure people should do whatever feels natural.
People making wacky handheld downgrade games: good outcome whatever form it takes.

@joshmillard Thanks! It's good to know this is fine with you.
To beginners: Though I am a beginner myself, if you find the graphic capabilities of PICO-8 too limiting, DO NOT TRY THIS.
I hope that others will do this challenge, though.

Jelpi Junior is pretty cool, but playing it suddenly reminds me of how many Game Boy games tried to always keep the camera aimed a bit ahead of the player. Donkey Kong Country 3 is a good example.

I updated Jelpi Junior with an Underground level...because every platformer needs one.
Also, Lava and Spikes(They were originally in the Jelpi ROM!), due to the game feeling a bit easy. Because of these, I also made warning signs (Like in the Game Gear version of Sonic).
How about extra lives? Good, because every 10 points you get, you'll get a life.

Version 3!
This one adds in a snow level, which may or may not have a secret in it.

I have no words.
Welp, that just made my day.
