Superb macabre breakout, @Fred_Osterero. Gold star.

Could you please add an option where you do not run out of time and in fact have the ability (perhaps a bonus) to catch the Will-O-The-Wisp and hold it while you think of where to launch it next.

Thanks @dw817 ! It would be difficult to add any new option, the cartridge is full ^_^' I'd love to add some other cool features like this, inspired by Arkanoïd. However, I decided to keep the game rather minimalist.

Very good take on Arkanoid & exquisite pixel art!
Do a bit of marketing campaing to avoid the game slipping away unoticed!

Minor gripes:

  • music may be overpresent
  • the first brick row can be very close to the player, making it really hard to catch the ball (given the size of the ball, it is often difficult to predict bounce)

This was very well done, and the graphics were especially wonderful. For me, the screen shake effect was too strong and frequent which made it fairly disorienting to play for more than a few moments at a time. I ended up disabling it in a local copy and quite enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing!

if i have to work with partner like jack i would jump through window due to stress,
reason of why this game is extremely difficult, blocks are too close to player, require extremly percise swing timing (yes hold z button doesn't give you advantage),can't control direction of 'jack',jacks are bounce too fast in whatever direction you don't have time to react

Hi @OWD5238 !
Indeed, Jack can be capricious! But if you wait long enough before striking it, it will bounce straighter. White potions also allow you to slow down its running, which could be very practical!

the art is beautiful and the gameplay fun!
I will also disable the screenshake to play it on handheld :]

Hi, very nice game. It's being in my favorites alongside little necromancer.
But yeah what a hard game.
Just a comment, since O does nothing in game, why not make so it also swings the shovel like X? But is not like it would make much of a diference.

P#138911 2023-12-19 20:44 ( Edited 2023-12-19 21:01)

Thanks @kas333 !
I prefer to keep the principle of one action equals one touch. This is to avoid any mistypes or the player wondering if the shovel strike is different between O and X.

P#139077 2023-12-23 11:29

Yeah I also don't want to update the game either.
This is just because playing the game on a controller would make so all buttons would do the shovel action. So the player gets freedom to choose what button he wants to use to play the game.
Since in other pico games the action/jump are inconsistent on X/O all the time and the creators don't bother into adding a button mapping.
