This is a demake of Midway's only vector scan arcade game 'Omega race'.
Bounce around the arena and destroy all droids.
Since the original game had a spinner to rotate the ship, I added mouse control mode to rotate and aim as fast as spinner.
Due to resolution and cpu limitation the number of droids and mines are limited to 10 and 6.
Anti-aliased vectors by elice and freds72.
Oh man this is SO GOOD with the mouse!
If you can, turn off mouse clicks when mouse mode is off -- I was playing with a weird combination of clicks and keys and an invisible mouse cursor before I realized how dumb I am
Also, I'd consider defaulting to mouse mode on. Its a blast :D :D
That's too bad about BARRIER. Ah, maybe for Picotron.
Anyways, I like this game enough I made some mods to make it more playable for me as I'm pretty slow.
- Increase ships to 9
- Change fire button to (O)
- Auto-fire (hold (O))
- Move with up arrow key
- Half-speed of original
I was looking at Digital Football too, you remember that came out from Radio Shack back in 1972 ? Watching a Youtube video - THAT IS BARRIER. That must've been where they got the idea from.
It's a sideview barrier so ... yeah, I can write it anyways - sideways. :)
All in all what you wrote here is a very enjoyable game, @hijongpark. A marvelous tribute to the original Omega Race.
Can't wait to see what new vector game you're gonna make after this !
@hijongpark, I have created a post offering modded carts that with your permission for this single game will link to the top of your thread here hopefully gaining you additional traffic lest your game fall behind.
I wanted to create a thread of modded games where I can either post the modded game on your thread or the author's. I would prefer the author's as that will increase their traffic. The author receiving all credit for the original game.
I believe the thread will be beneficial to those who had turned down playing a game outright because it was too difficult or the controls were not easy to master. I believe a thread of author-approved modded games has never been done before in Lexaloffle and will be a credit and benefit to the Pico-8 community.
What I posted above I appreciate you permitting and wanted to know if in the spirit of coding it is acceptable to link to the thread I created today found HERE:
If you like I can even include a screenshot of your game on my thread.
To my knowledge there are no other existing threads in Lexaloffle that offer modded carts that are accepted by the original author.
