This is art,thjs is beautiful! Great job,it feels very calming. It might be the prettiest thing I've seen done in pico8. Nice pseduo 3d gfx,great water. Excited to see where this one is going

Whatever else comes of this gameplay-wise, your art is absolutely stunning. I would play this just to look at the incredible scenery!

I also borrowed/adapted the particles from celeste, fire from space cat youtube, i've annotated the code to link to things I used.

I am pleased with the perspective, parallax scrolling stuff. probably reinventing the wheel but I made three functions, one to adjust horizontal scrolling speed based on distance, one to adjust vertical speed so the horizon collapses into one, and one that lets me draw something on any screen based on if it was the first screen, so 0 to 127 and then it will do the maths to take into account all the parallax scrolling positions so that objects will be in the right place when the cat gets there.

I love all the fun little details, like being able to launch into the sky from the ocean and fly using a balloon, the cat idle animations, the spooky halloween mode that suddenly triggers, and lots of little things. And of course it looks amazing. Gameplay with this much polish and care will be hauntingly amazing (lame day-after-halloween puns).

Nothing to add that others haven't already said. Such a beautiful cart. I really hope you develop this, although just exploring the wonderful landscape is pleasure in itself.

Lovely and spooky. The cat has a reflection, but not the magical ghosts, witches and ... the bat. Dead giveaway (pun intended) it's actually a vampire.
EDIT : just looked at the author's icon, I knew the red eyes of the cat's reflection were suspicious...

I somehow hadn't actually noticed the other moving sprites don't reflect, must be because I add them after the reflecting function. I guess I can justify it as the spooky stuff not being reflected because it is from another realm, but then that doesn't explain the mermaids. Will probably fix this when I make a longer version.

Ha, I was so sure I was on to something...
Mermaids are underwater, that's reason enough not to have a reflection I think.
