Pretty cool demo!

I only scanned the code, but that's an interesting/unconventional quicksort implementation. I'm not sure I fully understand what the extra pivot point is doing though? Avoiding deep recursion?

leuat79, I see you were the only Pico-8 contestant.

Looking at the screenshots I see the Windows were quite incredible - I skipped and didn't count or watch those as I'm only interested in old-skool.

Fired up my C64 emulator here and tried out the other demos.

Another World ... excellent tribute to SNES cart
Nostalgy ... good but uses outdated demo methods
1heavy4 ... good music, fair animation
pungavoto ... music but single still picture
galza27 ... no so great music, good slides
commando2084 ... that's fine

So it goes to prove something I suspected. Despite the limitations Pico-8 presents for graphics, sound, and source-code size, it is still a mountain of power for allowing outstanding coding ability when it comes to pulling off incredible graphic tricks and effects.

Yes, leuat79, I think anyways, you do deserve first place. Star granted. However, I did fall in love with that "Out Of This World" graphic and animated tribute.

This was my first pico-8 product, and I spent around 3 weeks making it. I usually make commodore 64 demos ( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH39q_Vs4rc etc), and have developed an 8-bit IDE for C64/VIC-20/Amiga development,check out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3FQDnNP2m0)

I enjoyed coding for the Pico-8, but I feel sort of uneasy about the fact that it does't have a CPU. So I'm currently in the process of creating my own "fake 8-bit computer", but with a proper CPU + music chip, hence the computer could actually be buil t IRL (without using any emulation) : https://lemonspawn.com/ok64/

OK64 looks great - seems like you've already done a lot! Have you been watching The 8-bit Guy videos on building his "dream computer" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayh0qebfD2g) ... Very different goals to yours, and he's focusing on hardware first - but it looks fun too.
