keep in mind that PICO-8 isn't only for "games" which is why some of the featured carts are just interesting tech demos and stuff.

like you said, it's really subjective, but one thing that might help find carts is to look at someone's profile and then look at their favorites; I mention this because it's kind of hard/confusing to find if you don't know where it is: on a user's profile, you have to click on the "Cartridges" tab (in the top navigation bar thing) and then click on the "Favorites" subcategory (as long as the person has their favorites set to be publicly visible).

There was a thread a couple years ago with some longer lists, but the ones that spring to mind for me are the ones that introduced me to the console: Sophie Holden's "Dusk Child", a small platforming adventure game; NuSan's "Combo Pool", a pool-themed puzzle game; and Krystman's "Mai-Chan's Sweet Buns", a puzzle game about matching lines of pastries.

It's hard to pick specific ones because there are honestly a lot? And also PICO-8 isn't just for games - there's a demoscene, for example, with stuff like jobe's
"Puroresu No Seishin"
.
