Okay so I need a little bit of help. I couldn't really find anywhere on the wiki to put this, and even now I don't honestly know if this is the right place. Either way I need to have one of the Admins request a site dump on the PICO-8 wiki. It says here that you can basically download the entire wiki: https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Database_download but I can't because there is no dump: https://pico-8.fandom.com/wiki/Special:Statistics I don't know if there is an Admin on the wiki but if they could request a database dump that would help tons. I do all my Pico-8 programming on a computer not connected to the internet and could really use constant access to the wiki instead of having to go to another computer. Thank you very much, and I look forward to you guy's help!

Does anyone use the Wiki anymore?

I know I do, but mostly to get the syntax of commands I don't use often.

I think it is also a great tool for figuring out things you don't really know what to do with since a "mget" isn't a normal API in C++ (The language I normally use).

I'd be interested in this too, CS. Looks like they don't have any backups.

Database dumps
Database dumps can be used as a personal backup (FANDOM produces separate backups of all wikis automatically) or for maintenance bots
Current pages
(This version is usually best for bot use)
      Unknown
Current pages and history
(Warning: this file may be very large)
      Unknown

That's not very fair ...

Who would I talk to in order to put a gun to their head and tell them to do it? JK Just want to ask

Does anyone know how to make a backup?

P#72684 2020-02-03 21:21

Doing this could really cut back on all of the Zines and allow anyone to use the site offline

I'm one of the admins, and yes people do use the wiki. It was in disrepair for a while, but these days we keep it up to date. There's actually a lot of "tribal knowledge" about PICO-8 that isn't in zep's manual, and I'd say we have it documented pretty well on the wiki.

Anyway, yes, I'll take a look and see if I can figure out how to do what you want done.

Okay, they claim it's supposed to happen weekly, but I can't see any way to make that happen automatically.

What's actually the case is that I can manually request one no more than once a week. Which, uh, isn't quite the same thing, imho.

Anyway, I requested one. I don't know how long it takes, but check in on it and see if it's happened.

I'll try to remember to request new ones periodically. @ me on discord if it's gone a long time without, I guess. But remember I'm just a regular user like you, not part of lexaloffle (I TRIED, HE WON'T LET ME, OKAY?), so be nice. ;P

Looks like it's there, but I hope you understand this is a dump of the database, not the nicely-formatted html the wiki sends to your browser. There may be apps that can be used to browse the raw database in a more user-friendly or wiki-like manner, but that's outside of my sphere of knowledge at the moment.

Anyway, good luck, hope it helps in some way. :)

Thanks so much! You have no idea how much this helps! Unfortunately a whole NEW problem just arose where I can only run Pico-8 in 256 colors even after I replaced the SDL. But that's for a different thread.

You're welcome. I just requested a fresh one for you, too.
