Anyone in the loop with laptops at the moment? Are there any small, cheap and nifty laptops that would be nice for pico-8 development? Don't they produce any 'netbook' kind of laptops anymore? I'd like a really small one, but still bigger than a pandora. I guess the specs can be very humble for running pico-8. I was looking at laptops around 100-200€ but it seems they don't really have enough hard-drive space for running windows properly -_-; I guess I could look for something second hand, but I'd probably like a new one, in my experience laptops usually deteroriate quite quickly.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

They still make netbooks to my knowledge. I've definitely seen more than a handful that are running windows 10.

Hey, thanks. Yeah actually I found a few when searching some more. Lenovo MIIX 320 seems to be one of the more common small ones right now:

It'd be pretty nice having some little laptop like that for coding anywhere ^^

Most of the classical "netbook" market is occupied by Chromebooks these days and those are perfectly capable of working with PICO-8 by enabling dev mode and installing Crouton to get a Linux desktop environment. You'll get more hardware for the money by doing this since the Windows stuff at the same price has to accommodate the Microsoft tax. However, if you go this route, go for one with an Intel x64 CPU - most of the low end are ARM and not supported.

As u/triplefox suggest, I think you should look into Chromebooks. I can personally recommend the Acer Chromebook R11. It is a convertible and it has an x64 Intel CPU. You can install Crouton, but this chromebook supports legacy boot mode - meaning you can erase ChromeOS completely an install GalliumOS, a distro based on Xubuntu to work with Chrome hardware out of the box.

If you decide to go the Chromebook route, feel free to message me on Twitter @dominik_doczi, and I will help you set everything up! :)

Hey thanks for the suggestions guys, really helpful to know all the options! Btw I got an add for MS surface GO today, I kind of like the look and feel of those MS surfaces, but I don't think I have the money for one of those now. I was double up interrested in it because of the pen, but I already read some artist reviews on it that inking unfortunately sucks with it :(

I have run PICO-8 on Toshiba 3480CT (600MHz, really old) and it kinda runs, not great, but acceptable for simple things. :)
