I have a few questions before buying voxatron, since i got the 20$!! Woohoo!
The way of how did i got them isnt important. Well! Lets start:
If i have bought voxatron already, but i had problems like the game goes so laggy, i cant run the game, it freezes or else, can i get refund?
Can i make a two-players game? Like a cart with two players? Not online, i mean on the same device
can i create blocks/props that i can actually grab above my head? Like a stone that can be pick up with pushing a key?
Enemies that fight each other? Like a blue man fighting against a red man? (Weird question ik)
How do the custom weapons work? Can i name them? Like "Dorito Sword"?
how do the liquid works? Do i place water voxels? Can i also place lava voxels? Can i create my own liquids?
my own enemies? Can i make my own enemies? Can i lend them weapons?
am new on forums, have i done a stupid question?
im scared about the refund thing. Please answer that :(
=I= bought PICO. While I won't go into my life's history, that is a very UNUSUAL thing for me to do - to buy any software at all. (Cause usually you can find it free somewhere on the Internet).
THESE ARE THE REASONS I BOUGHT PICO:
PICO is a growing program. That is, it is being updated and improved constantly. When you buy it, you get ALL upgrades for free.
PICO has a wonderful community of programmers. If you're interested in learning how to write videogames of all kinds and in just about the easiest programming language around, then this is it.
PICO has a SPLORE, that is. Every time you bring up SPLORE in PICO, with a few keypresses, you are alerted to the very newest games, screen teasers, utilities, whatever anyone has written ... immediately, and you can play it right then and there, in full-screen if you like.
PICO is not just a game system, it's a wonderful and powerful programming language. ANY games that show up in SPLORE (or here) always have their source code listed so you can learn from each and every one of of them. (I've learned quite a bit myself).
PICO programs can be posted IMMEDIATELY, and I really mean that. If you just want to make a new post with your program. You can click above where you can add a CART, or if that's too much work. Just type, "SAVE @CLIP" in PICO. Then post any message in here (like you did above), and press CTRL-V. Your game will automatically appear in that message when you save. THAT to me is worth the purchase price alone.
The community is friendly and very helpful. If you have a question about programming, me or someone else will usually help you out. Me especially as I'm retired and basically on the computer 24/7. :)
- It's educational. If your parents are going to pay for it, have them look over the entire community and posts. I think they will see this is more than just good brain food for you, it will reshape your brain, especially about formulas, mathematical techniques, spatial thinking, mapping, and increase your creative skills in art and music.
Any other Q's ?
As a person that regularly plays voxatron, I can answer some of you're questions:
I have no idea about a refund, but under the assumption that it follows the rules of other internet games, I'd say no.
Yes, you can create carts with up to four players, but you need a separate controllers for each player.
Although props/blocks are immovable, you can create a monster that has the same properties as the prop that you desire, and you can lift that monster if you make it "Lift-able".
No, monsters will not deliberately go after each other, but they can still damage each other if you set them on different teams (My teacher asked Zeb about the monsters going after each other, and he said that it would mess something up).
There are two types of weapons: melee, and ranged. I don't know how to create a melee weapon yet, but I can tell you hot to make a gun If you want to. I you just want to create a renamed sword, then select the pickup from the pickup menu and change the name "sword" to the name "Doritos sword"
Liquids are tied to the room, when looking at the room settings in the upper right you can change the floor to be many different things like: grass, water, lava, and I think mud or tar. But you could try finding away around this by creating a monster that: spans the entire room, causes the desired effect to the player and the monsters touching it, make it invincible, and make it immobile.
You can create your own enemies, but I haven't tested the part about them getting weapons, so maybe.
- If you: haven't bought the game, just bought the game, or aren't experimenting with the game's designer mode, then no, these questions aren't stupid in the slightest.
btw if the game lags for you on the browser, don't worry. The game doesn't usually lag unless you're pushing the game to the limit. (For instance: spawning very large amounts of one voxel monsters, firing a gun programmed to shoot several hundred bullets at a time, etc)
SquaiRs, if you have PICO, in file (command) mode, type KEYCONFIG followed by ENTER. Then configure the keyboard the way you would like for both player 1 & 2.
load up the cart you want, preferably with SPLORE to make it easy. Play game.
Hope This Helps ! :)
Well... technically you can create a vehicle, and there are many ways to go about this, but you just have to be a bit creative when making this because there isn't an object type specifically made for vehicles. For example: create the car/plane/blah as an item and make a player modifier based off of what stats you want for the vehicle, or you could create a monster that looks like a vehicle that goes on a set path.
OK, are you using the robot or the human. If it was the robot, then there is your problem. The robot doesn't have the same modifiers as the human does, so you can't use the "twirly gun","lazer', and "grenade" weapons. Everything else should work fine. If it doesn't work with the human, then I can't help you.
Weapons behaviors need to be built into the player character to work. Laser/twirlygun/grenade items by themselves only deal with amount of ammo, name of the weapon, and which button you press to use them. If you look inside of the human player object, you'll see that it has a behavior for each of the three guns. Study that to understand how weapons work. If you need more help, feel free to ask.
Also of note, the triple shot, blaster, and builder are legacy items and work differently than the newer gun items, so don't worry about how those work.
