Tuned difficulty slightly- added a short stinger at level start. Start with an extra life, and quicker to get free lives.
Add two new enemies. Tentacle enemy shows up in level 6 and above. And a new boss in level 10. Also now up arrow works for jump as well as Z.
Added a gun (shows up level 4 or later) - gives you three shots until it runs out.
Major update. Intro screen. New level. Perfect bonus for not missing ROMs.
Help the professor escape the Alien lab. Collect the ROMs and avoid the strange devices. Free life at 750, 1500, and doubles from there.
Four levels, then they repeat, speeding up.
Z to jump.
Left and right arrow to move.

I've been seeing quite a bit of Johan Vinet's art. I do a little 8x8 myself but takes me FOREVER to get it quite right.
Neat game too. I would give the professor a laser weapon or something for higher levels where he doesn't just dodge items but has to actively RUN from those which pursue him.

Man, this is an attractive game - the sprites are good of course, but the colors and design are great.
Maybe its just me, but it feels like there is a tiny bit of lag on your jump (playing on the web). Maybe its a low starting velocity, or maybe there actually is a frame or two of lag? I don't notice it as much when pressing left and right. Maybe im crazy. Cool game!
A time penalty is an interesting idea. I had debated having points deducted but settled on giving a bonus if you don't let any hit the ground. A time penalty would force the player to collect most of them. I'll play around with that.
GFCarstensen, how about like Tail Gunner ? If you don't catch them (the plans in this case) if you miss 3 of them during a level, you lose a life.
Also wanted to ask, when I lose a life during BOSS stage, are all hits recovered to the baddie ?
Right now it's not really a boss stage- basically it's survive for 24 s - (then when you win, you redo, but things are a bit faster, and it adds 4 s to each stage). So when you shoot him with the gun, it just freezes him for about 3 seconds.
Some good ideas. We'll have a look- we're also thinking of adding a few more unique levels - so maybe 8 to 10 levels before repeating - so maybe a variety of level types - some you have to defeat the boss, some catch the roms, etc.
Ah ! Will have to try this again then. If you have bosses - I think you're pretty close to finishing the game. What you might do is put a DEBUG flag in the game so it runs at half speed.
Then put it on the hardest level you have, if =YOU= can just barely beat that level with the whole system running at half speed, that might be the last level of the game before you give a fanfare victory to the player for having won the whole game.
Take out the half-speed adjust, and post your cart for FINAL.
Don't even think others won't be able to beat that level at the regular speed. Some people have astounding reflexes and very sharp skills at games of this kind.
