I absolutely loved this game until the last puzzle. I spent over half an hour and 100+ deaths on that single room. It's just so many intricate steps, and if I messed up on any one of them, I'd have to restart. Plus there's not much floor to stand on, so at any point I could slip and fall into the void.
Other than that, it's almost perfect in almost every way. The level of polish is something I thought wasn't even possible within Pico-8. The puzzles make use of the mechanics so well. Not too difficult but not too easy either. The art and the lighting looks really nice. Definitely one of the best Pico-8 games I've ever played.

I know I'm pretty late to the party, but wow, I'm astonished by this game.
I just finished it, but I only found a single idol. I'm eager to play it again and search the others.
After finishing the game I read @krajzeg's 4 part series called "Lighting by hand" on Medium (here is the link to part 1 if you are interested), which made me appreciate the lighting techniques even more. I haven't seen anything like that in PICO-8 yet.
This game is an inspiration to us all.
