a little function i wrote for fun ...! it lets you draw a sprite as if it was a rectangle :]
works best when the sprite is evenly divisible by 3 both ways ... but it will not cause any errors if that isn't the case
i could certainly make the code smaller, but i feel like working on other things at the moment, so you can have it as it currently is 🤲
function sprrect(x, y, w, h, s)
s = get_spr(s)
local slice_w, slice_h = s:attribs()
slice_w = slice_w\3
slice_h = slice_h\3
local slices = {}
-- split into 3x3 slices
for _y = 0,2 do
local row = {}
for _x = 0,2 do
local slice = userdata("u8", slice_w, slice_h)
s:blit(slice, _x*slice_w,_y*slice_h,0,0, slice_w, slice_h)
add(row, slice)
end
add(slices, row)
end
-- draw corners
spr(slices[1][1], x - slice_w, y - slice_h)
spr(slices[1][3], x + w, y - slice_h)
spr(slices[3][1], x - slice_w, y + h)
spr(slices

a little autoharp type thing i am working on!! very very inspired by lynn's autokalimba
controls
- TAB: show keyboard labels
- SHIFT: transpose bass by -5 semitones (for flavor)
- LEFT/RIGHT: change instrument
- UP/DOWN: change volume
- CTRL + UP/DOWN: transpose last played key by +-12 semitones
- SHIFT + UP/DOWN: transpose all keys by +-12 semitones
other settings can be found in the menu! (click the menu button on the top-left of the window)
also available on itch! it sounds better when running straight from picotron

a weird little experimental game that i made for 1-BIT JAM #5 over on itch... i hope you like it :]
press X to act, and use the arrow keys to move

i have been meaning to get back into working on my personal neocities, and was looking for fun buttons to put on my website. i wanted to put a PICO-8 button in there somewhere, but didn't know if anyone had created one already, so i decided to make one myself...! feel free to use it if you want, credit is not necessary :]

i felt i should bring this up! having to move my mouse so slowly to try and get the number i need out of a knob in SFX tends to really strain my wrist ;; being able to click a box and type a number much like GFX allows would be much, much appreciated, or perhaps the scroll wheel could allow you to increment/decrement by 1!
i wrote down the rules for a weird little game with sliding tiles a little while ago, and only a couple days ago i had finished a little prototype for pico-8 :p
i'd like to do more with it in the future, but i think it's fun to play in its current state, so i thought i'd share it here. feedback is welcome !!
