I have really gotten into RPG's and JRPG's as of late, so I decided to make a little tribute to one of my favorites right now. Right now, I've finished Dragon Quest 1 and am working on 2 but I can't wait for 3, heard nothing but good for that one. Take care everyone and I hope you like this as much as I did making it

Flawlessly composed. Gold star to the exceptional musician, @ScrubSandwich. Nice to see you back in Pico-8 !

If you want some ideas, how about the very cheery music as you enter in your name, also Dragon Warrior 1 ?

Hello @dw817 Thanks, but it was mostly copied from the original NES files. and yes Dragon Quest and Dragon Warrior are the same game, when Dragon Quest was release in America they had issues because there was already a D&D Expansion named DragonQuest so to avoid confusion and copyright, for the first 7 games in America it was known as Dragon Warrior instead. We also received a handful of graphical improvements, but that's enough history

Mostly copied, @ScrubSandwich ? How did you accomplish that ?

If you want to hear some talented music, try the opening for LUFIA for the Gameboy Color, "Lufia: The Legend Returns."

Wow ! Simply, wow.

Based upon SNES which had greater sound ability.

Music is and always will DRIVE a game. Videogames are to be seen, heard, and experienced.

Mostly Copied yes. There is this really cool site called Zophars Domain which rips the game audio files out of old NES and SNES games and then you can open them with other software, this makes it easy to make the song as accurate as possible.

I've been on Zophar's Domain in the past, @ScrubSandwich. Yes they have good stuff there. At one point I was collecting all kinds of PSX soundtracks to keep for myself.

To ease in the use of music (for the non-musically talented) I did make a program that works hand-in-hand with Pico-8 that plays OGG and WAV background of Pico-8.

I think it needs some work. While it's pretty interesting what it does I suspect it could be used for other programming languages outside of Pico-8 - and I really didn't want it to do that.

I may actually take advantage of Pico-8's unique character set which would be difficult to germinate in most other programming languages - and use THOSE as a valid command set to relay back to Mother base.
